Outline:
1. Background
2. An Overview about Web3D/VRML
3. Aqua/AMSR-E on Web3D
4. ADEOS-II on Web3D
5. Conclusion
Background:
Earth observation satellite data
Releasing the satellite images with a new method on the Internet.
Earth observation data for use and dissemination on the web.
Background:
Aqua/AMSR-E
Launched by Delta II rocket on May 4, 2002
Visualizing the Earth observation data obtained from AMSR-E. Creating Web pages to distribute the satellite images to users.

Web3D/VRML
Concepts of the Web contents
Background:
1. Earth observation data for both researchers and general users.
2. Educate general users much more about Earth observation.
3. Interesting and easy accessible contents.
More interesting contents in the education about Earth
observation.
What is the Web3D/VRML?
Web3D : is a standard of describing 3D objects and interactive environments over the web. VRML
: was born as a file format standard
among other Web3D technologies in 1994.
: is a text language for describing 3D objects.
: is simple and light.
Web3D/VRML:
Simple text language : easy to construct with a text editor. : no need to assemble or compile.
Light volume of data : available in low-bandwidth
connections.
Technical establishment : choice of many plug-ins
Advantages of VRML:

VRML FilesUsers
JPEG images transmitted to a server, the information is registered, and then VRML files are automatically created on the server side.
Conclusion:
Earth observation data is not only for researchers,
but also general users.
→ Every data shall be opened up for everyone.
Web contents are standing up at the turning point.
→ Web3D/VRML is effective as solution.
Capability of VRML’s expression is still in the high level.
→ Especially effective in the educational environments.
Thank you for your kind attention.
