The latest paintings by Ukraines Katya Trischuk are

wonderful renditions of beautiful owers that are rich

in bright colours and lush with texture. They look so

gentle; its as if a single breath will blow them away.

Theyre straight out of fairy tale or a dream.

The work of Katya Trischuk, spans several different

genres. I believe her strength lies with still life and

gurative works. Her preferred media is thickly appliedoils with a strong emphasis on composition and vibrant,

lyrical colour. With the still life works, they are often

indulgent and amboyant with evidence of energetically

applied colour. Similarly her portraits of women are

often exaggerated, with elongated limbs and softened

faces. The ladies are often theatrical, seeming to want

to reach out of the space, letting the viewer know that

this is a performance, not just a painting.

Katyas gurative works for instance, with the very

    feminine subjects reect sensuality, innocence,

mischievousness, and even humour. Thesepaintings, combining soft continuing tones with

bold textured surfaces, seem to challenge the viewer

to look deeper into things and see more then the

immediate. However, no matter what the subject,

the luminosity of Katyas paintings is what gives

them a distinction and makes them uniquely hers.
