Sponsorship Descriptions

The Katy ISD FFA Livestock Show and Rodeo is the oldest event of its kind in the great

State of Texas. For 73 years the Katy community has come together to support our FFA

students through individual volunteers donating their time and financial support from

companies like yours.

The Katy FFA Livestock Show and Rodeo has grown over the years and the 2015 Rodeo

was another great year. The sole purpose of the KLSR is to support the Katy ISD FFA

programs at each high school in our district, and we are proud to announce that this year

the Rodeo Committee presented $65,000 to the AG teachers as a direct result of the

success of the 2015 Rodeo. Since 2008, the Katy community through its support of the

Katy rodeo has provided over $350,000 in financial support to the FFA program. Sponsors

and volunteers should be extremely proud of the impact you have on our FFA students as

they develop their leadership skills, strong work ethic, and responsibility.

Official Rodeo Sponsor $15,000

Lloyd's Register Drilling Integrity Services Inc (and West Enginering Services) has a long

standing partnership with the Katy ISD and the FFA Rodeo. They have been the Official

Rodeo Sponsor since 2009 and have expanded their commitment to the KISD STEM

program in 2015.

Sponsor Signage

Sponsor banners and flags are displayed during all 3 nights of the rodeo (supplied by

sponsor) and are also listed in the rodeo program. We have vendors that can assist with sign

production at a reasonable cost that are familiar with the sign dimension requirements if interested.

Arena Signs (2’ x 6’) 1 @ $300 or 2 @ $500

Arena signs hang on the inside of the arena in front of the box seats. The two ‘fer offer allows

advertisers to display their signs to the audience on both sides of the arena. The cost of

building the sign is included in the sponsorship fee for all new sponsors with the hope that

businesses will renew their sponsorships and we can reuse the signs year after year. Sponsor

Committee members will work with you to build your customized signs from your company art

work.

(6) Bucking Chute Signs $750

The Bucking Chutes are a major focus area for several rodeo events. The signs have

customized cut-outs to allow rodeo contestants better footage in their efforts to get out the

way of a charging bull. Sign count is limited to six – one for each chute.

(2) Roping Boxes (Heel/Head) Signs (2’ x 8’) $500

Roping Box signs hang on the chutes at the opposite end of the bucking chutes where cowboys

and cowgirls start their runs in the Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Tie-down Roping and Break

away Roping events. Sponsor fee includes 2 signs (2’x8’) that hang on both sides of the gate so

the sponsors logo is visible when the gate is open and closed.

(2) Rough Stock Return Gate Signs (3’ x 5’) $500

Rough Stock Return Gates are located on the end adjacent to the Bucking Chutes and highly

visible to the entire audience. Sign count is limited to two – one for each gate.

Grand Entry “Katy Cowgirl” Flags $350

The Katy Cowgirls are a Katy ISD student group of horse-riding performers ages 8 to 18 who

are an integral part of the KFLSR. No great rodeo starts without great cowgirls to kick off the

night, and ours suit up with their trademark tiaras and hats to perform choreographed

patterns at the annual presentation of the flags at each and every rodeo performance.

Sponsors are announced as the Katy Cowgirls enter the arena.

Anita Mancini is the Cowgirl Director and manages the team and their drills.

Rodeo Youth Event Sponsorships

(36) Calf Scramble Sponsor $150/calf/night

The Calf Scramble takes place during each rodeo performance. In the Calf Scramble, determined FFA members

compete with one another to coax, catch and halter one of the calves across the winner's line. The successful

scramblers receive $150 to aid in the purchase of a livestock animal to be raised and shown at the Katy

Livestock Show and Rodeo the following year. There are 12 calf sponsorships for each night of the rodeo.

Sponsors are recognized by the announcers prior to the Calf Scramble and are also listed in the rodeo

program.

(6) Hard Luck Sponsor $150/night

2 students each night who are deemed to have tried the hardest without success of catching a calf are chosen

for the Hard Luck award. Think of being dragged through the mud halfway across the arena and the calf slips

out of your grasp only to have another student catch the now tired calf and you are left face down, empty

handed! Each hard luck winner receives $150 to aid in the purchase of a livestock animal to be raised and

shown at the Katy Livestock Show and Rodeo the following year. Sponsors are recognized by the announcers

at the time of hard luck award distribution and are also listed in the rodeo program.

(3) First Catch Buckle Sponsor $200/night

The first FFA student to successfully coax, catch, and halter a calf across the winner’s line at each performance

receives a shiny new belt buckle to recognize their accomplishment. One buckle awarded per night. Sponsors

are recognized by the announcers when the buckle is awarded and are also listed in the rodeo program.

(3) Mutton Bustin’ Sponsor $300/night

The Mutton Bustin' event is a crowd favorite! Little Buckaroos "cowboy up" and hold on for six exciting seconds! The audience goes wild as these young rodeo contestants take a thrilling ride under the big lights. Mutton Bustin' takes place during every rodeo performance. Sponsors are recognized by the announcers prior to the Mutton Bustin’ event and are also listed in the rodeo program.

(3) Stick Horse Race Sponsor $200/night

A RACE FOR THE YOUNGEST COWBOYS and COWGIRLS to share in the thrill of being a part of the

RODEO! Each contestant will be given a Stick horse that they can keep and use to race in the arena! Sponsors

are recognized by the announcers prior to the stick horse race and are also listed in the rodeo program.

CPRA Rodeo Event Sponsors

Rodeo event sponsorship fee includes coverage for all three nights of the rodeo as well as the belt buckle awards. Sponsors are recognized by the announcers prior to the event, including a short script promoting the sponsor’s business (provided by the sponsor) and are also listed in the rodeo program.

(2) Bareback Riding Sponsor $1,500

Most cowboys agree that bareback riding is the most physically demanding event in rodeo,

taking an immense toll on the cowboy's body and the longest eight seconds of their lives.

(2) Steer Wrestling Sponsor $1,500

This event was originally called "bull dogging" and requires the cowboy to lean from the

running horse onto the back of a 600 pound steer, catch it behind the horns and wrestle it to

the ground.

(2) Team Roping Sponsor $1,500

Calves and steers are allowed a head start as the competitors, on horseback, race to rope the

steers in the least amount of time.

(2) Saddle Bronc Riding Sponsor $1,500

In saddle bronc and bareback riding, a cowboy must exit the chute with his spurs set above the

horse's shoulders and hold them there until the horse's front feet hit the ground after the

initial jump out of the chute.

(2) Bull Riding Sponsor $1,500

Bull riders, who might not weigh more than 150 pounds, hold onto a flat braided rope around

a bull that weighs almost 2000 pounds with only his grip holding him in place. The rider relies

on balance and leg strength to make the eight-second buzzer.

(2) Tie-Down Roping Sponsor $1,500

Tie-down roping, formerly known as calf roping is the classic old west ranch chore and is now one of the most competitive of rodeo events. The calf is released and the cowboy must rope it as quickly as possible.

(2) Break-Away Roping Sponsor $1,500

A rope barrier is stretched across that opening and is tied to the calf or steer with a breakaway

loop. Once the calf or steer reaches the head-start point the barrier is automatically released

and the competitors race the clock to rope the calf.

(2) Barrel Racing Sponsor $1,500

The cowgirl’s time begins as she rides her horse across the starting line in the arena. She

makes a run around three upright barrels, which are in a cloverleaf pattern, and back to the

starting line where the clock stops.

Other Rodeo Sponsorships

(1) Pickup Man Sponsor $5,000

A pickup man’s job is to rescue the cowboy after his eight second ride from a bucking horse or

steer.

(1) Funny Man Sponsor $2,500

Arena entertainer who performs skits, jokes and conversation with the crowd during lulls or

slow times when the next event is getting ready.

(1) Bull Fighter Clowns Sponsor $2,500

During bull riding events, rodeo clowns are the first defense against the bull after a cowboy

gets bucked off. It’s the rodeo clown’s job to distract the bull from going after the cowboy.

Special Needs Rodeo Sponsorships

The Special Needs Rodeo (SNR) is one of the most popular events for Katy ISD, and it

occurs the Wednesday before the opening night of the KLSR. Open to Katy ISD special

needs students, grades 8-12 with physical and mental exceptionalities, this annual event

is a fun way for children to experience the cowboy way of life first hand. Every student

pairs up with a Katy ISD FFA student “buddy”, and participants enjoy riding a

“mechanical” bull, roping steer dummies, riding a horse, wagon rides, face painting, a

petting zoo, meals and more!

(1) Bandana Sponsor $800

Bandanas are printed with the sponsor logo prominently displayed. The bandanas are given to

each of the SNR attendees and volunteers to be worn during the event and taken home as a

memento afterwards.

(2) Meal Sponsors $1,000

Meals are provided for all of the students and volunteers during the SNR.

(3) Activities Sponsors $750-$1,000

Activities at the event include mobile train ride, wagon ride, and mechanical bull ride. Activity

costs vary by event.

Parade Sponsorships

The KLSR parade is held on the Saturday morning and final day of the KLSR rodeo

performances and begins at 9:30 am. The parade runs through old Katy, beginning near

Rhodes Stadium and ending at the Ag Pavilion located near the intersection of FM 1463

and I-10 (south of Katy High School). The parade route is packed with observers young

and old, and includes all of the Katy ISD FFA members who have participated in the

livestock shows as they are celebrated by their community. Fun floats entered in a

variety of categories and more are just a part of this great community parade!

Sponsorship includes signage prominently displayed on sponsor item(s) during parade

(provided by sponsor). Giveaways provided by sponsors that can be tossed/handed to

the crowd are allowed to be distributed along the parade route.

the fun along the parade route.
