Objective:

Republic Day marks an important event in India's history. It commemorates the enactment of the

Constitution of India which came into effect on January 26, 1950, and made the nation into a

republic.

Overview:

Republic Day is a national day of India, when the country marks and celebrates the date on

which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26, January 1950, replacing the Government

of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India and thus, turning the nation into a newly

formed republic.

Republic Day Celebrations held at the Kristu Jayanti College Ground. KCDC volunteers

and faculty members were present during the flag hoist ceremony held at Kristu Jayanti College.

Rev. Fr. Dr. Augustine George (principal) and Dr. Stephen ( PG faculty) were the Chief Guests

for the day. After the Flag Hoisting Ceremony an insightful speech was given by the chief guest.

After the enlightening speech, sweets were distributed to the volunteers.

Title: Orientation for First Year

Objective:

The KCDC aims at developing character, comradery, discipline, and a secular outlook,

the spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst young citizens.

Overview:

The KCDC club organized an orientation program for the newly enrolled students. Mr.

Raghavendra M, Deputy Divisional Warden Division-60 conducted the session on orienting

students about all the KCDC activities conducted in the college and also shared achievements of

the senior KCDC cadets. Further adding to it, he also explained how and why students should

join KCDC and briefed the aims, motto and history of KCDC.

The program was concluded through an interactive Q/A session organized for the newly

enrolled students to clear their doubts. It was a very useful session for those students who want to

join KCDC and build a career in Defence services.

Objective

The objective of conducting the Selection Interview was to screen the candidates and

induct the applicants with relevant skills and personality.

The objective of the Physical Test was to ensure that the selected candidates have basic

physical ability and to determine the general status of the candidate’s health.

Overview

As the recruitment for volunteers from the first-year students was identified. A Selection

Interview was organized on 27/03/2021 starting from 10 AM to 12 PM. The main intention of

the interview was to ensure that the potential candidates are screened on the grounds of their

enthusiasm and motive to join the Civil Defence Team. The interviewers asked general questions

to assess the various aspects of the candidates. The physical test was conducted on 29/03/2021

from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM in which the students were tested to assess their basic physical ability.

The Test included Squats, Push-ups and Sprint among others. The senior members were

overseeing the test. The programme went in a smooth manner and ended on time.

Motivational Talk

Title: Life in Indian Defence Force and how to join Indian Defence Forces

Objective

The ultimate goal of the motivational talk was to encourage the volunteers pursue a career in

armed forces.

Overview

‘Do not lament the death of a warrior in the battlefield. As those who sacrifice their lives in

the war are honoured in the heaven’.

Colonel Anshu Trivedi gave a motivational discourse about the Indian Defence Forces

throughout the event. In 1972, he joined the IMA in Dehradun. He graduated from IMA in

December after finishing his 18-month training course and was commissioned as a second

lieutenant in the 8th Battalion of Garhwal Rifles. Colonel Anshu Trivedi received a 'Unit

Citation' for his bravery during the Kargil war.

Later, he was assigned to the NCC at Tirupati as the group commander. He is currently enjoying

his retirement in Bengaluru, where he works as an independent personality development

consultant and has coached over 35,000 students across India.

COVID-19 AWARENESS CAMPIAGN

Title: Poster making activity

Objective

The absolute goal was to assess the level of awareness and preparedness to fight against COVID-

19 among the students and volunteers.

Overview

On the 24th of May, the KCDC unit, in partnership with the NGO Feel Free for Change,

organised a poster-making session. The major goal of the initiative was to raise public

knowledge of COVID 19 through social media. Despite the obstacles posed by the lockdown, the

volunteers continued to do their civic duty.

As the global threat of COVID-19 continues to grow, it is critical to improve the awareness and

preparedness of the targeted society, especially the less educated ones. Educational interventions

are urgently needed to reach the targeted residents beyond borders and further measures are

warranted. The outcome of this activity highlighted a growing need for the adoption of

innovative local strategies to improve awareness in general population related to COVID-19 and

its preventative practices in order to meet its elimination goals

.

FOOD DONATION DRIVE

Title: Food Donation Drive

Date: 30/05/2021 to 27/06/2021




Objective

The COVID-19 pandemic has not only crippled our healthcare systems but has also exacerbated

the pre-existing global hunger crisis. The objective of this food donation drive has been to

provide the destitute and poverty-stricken people with at least one- square meal.

Overview

The KCDC volunteers joined hands to curtail the hunger catastrophe created by the global

pandemic. The entire process from preparing to packaging of the food was carried out by senior

KCDC volunteers along with external members.

The needy and homeless people in and around the Jeevan Bhima Nagar Limits benefitted from

this drive.

The Food Donation Drive was conducted over the following 5days:

DAY 1- 30th

May 2021

70 food packets were distributed.

DAY 2- 6th

June 2021

150-200 food packets and water bottles were distributed.

DAY 3- 13th

June 2021

Around 120 food packets and water bottles were distributed.

DAY 4-21st June 2021

Around 150 food packets were distributed.

DAY 5- 27th

June 2021

Around 200 food packets were distributed.

All the volunteers had vigorously contributed towards the success of this drive. Those who were

in Karnataka, took to streets on all 5 days for the triumphant distribution of the food packets. The

other volunteers played an instrumental role in collection of funds for the drive by reaching out

their friends and family.

E- Quiz on World Environment Day

Title: World Environment Day

Objective:

The main objective of conducting this E-quiz on the world environment day is bring awareness

between the students.

Overview:

‘Let’s nurture the nature so that we can have a better future.’

World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated annually on 5 June and is the United Nations’

principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment.

The program was conducted through online platform ‘zoom’ ensuring compliance to COVID

protocol. The quiz event was initiated by the Civil Defence Corps and various departments. The

KCDC Unit and the NSS Unit of KRISTU JAYANTI COLLEGE participated in the online quiz

event commemorating the ENVIRONMENTAL DAY with the theme of ECOSYSTEM

RESTORATION. There were 20 questions and each carried 5 points. Ecosystem Restoration can

take many forms like growing trees, greening cities, rendering gardens, changing diet and

cleaning up rivers etc., An activity to plant saplings was conducted for KCDC volunteers. This

helped the volunteers learn about the significance of the environment and how to preserve it for

the future generations.

Objective

The main objective of conducting the program was to bring awareness among the youth and

enlighten them with the importance of yoga and how it links with the culture of India.

Overview

The International Yoga Day was conducted on 21st June 2021 at Kristu Jayanti College by the

Civil Defence Corps.

The program was conducted through the ‘zoom’ platform to ensure the compliance with

COVID-19 protocol. The session was held by D.R MAHESH BABU. The session focused on the

benefits and techniques of yoga which supports the participants throughout their life. The motive

of the session was to help the participants understand the benefits of Yoga and to inculcate it in

their daily routine. E-certificates were provided to all the participants who took part in the event.

Title: Plastic Free Challenge Activity

Objective

Plastic Free Challenge Activity’s goal is to challenge people to reduce our single-use plastics and

to encourage sustainable habits every day. Plastic Free challenge is a personal challenge that is

part of a KCDC effort to reduce our overall plastic consumption, creating cleaner campuses,

streets, oceans and communities.

Overview

‘Everyday we can make the world a Better Place to Live, just by not using The Plastic Bags’

Plastic Free Challenge Activity was conducted on the account of International Plastic Bag Free

Day from 3rd

July, 2021 to 4th

July, 2021. The Plastic Free Challenge was designed to raise

awareness and promote solutions. The activity was fuelled by creative contributions and

participation of KCDC volunteers. The activities were conducted through the online

platform ‘zoom’. The activities conducted were:

1. Replace Plastic items in your home with any other non- plastic materials and take picture

of before and after and submit the same.

2. Make any Homemade – Art out of waste Plastic materials which can be used without

throwing it and submit the photo of the same.

3. You can collect the plastic materials that is thrown near- by your homes and put it in a

proper wastage place.

The activities were conducted through google forms and the last date for the submissions was

4th

July , 2021. The submissions were judged and the winners were awarded with E-

Certificates. All the participants were awarded with E- Participation Certificates .
