2012 was a year of great accomplishment for KΣE We sit on the precipice of even greater accomplish-ments for 2013

As you all know one of my primary concerns over the years for the growth and survival of KΣE has always been how to generate a steady annual stream of funding We have so many obligations that need to be met like funding our KΣESUNY Delhi endowment fund Active Chapter Schol-arshipIncentive fund Web-site Alumni Association business expenses and

Active Chapter expenses along with satisfying our varied charity fundraising efforts

Other than dues and dona-tions from our Alumni we have not up till now had any other real revenue source That is about to change in what I hope will prove to be in a big way

Last year your KΣE AA Ex-ecutive Board negotiated for and secured the nod from the college to extend the Alumni Weekend to include an annual golf outing Last yearrsquos Golf Outing which

was attended by only a few KΣE Alumni Brothers served as the dry run for this yearrsquos official launch intended to coincide with the SUNY Delhi Centennial Celebration

The golf outing is a marque opportunity for KΣE and the plan is for it to become an annual tradition that will prove to be a premier fundraising event for KΣE for years to come That is not going to happen without your help

We need you to attend the outing if you donrsquot golf we are hoping you will consider possibly co-sponsoring the

We are hoping that our Alumni will reach out to fami-ly friends and business as-sociates to donate Chase your fellow pledge class brothers and sponsor a four-some donate a raffle prize whatever fits your situation will be very much appreciat-ed This is something that I really believe will grow into a

true legacy event for KΣE

A very special thanks goes out to brothers like Jim Kelly Don Leslie Mike Huvane and Jan Van Hoesen along with a host of other Alumni Brothers for their extremely thoughtful donations of time

and funds making things like the KΣESUNY Delhi En-

dowment Fund possible

KΣE estab-lished the KΣESUNY Delhi Endowment Fund to clearly demonstrate our commit-ment to making a continuous effort to con-tribute to the improvement of the educa-tional process at SUNY Delhi and ultimately help fund it for those in need looking for a little extra help

We officially began our KΣESUNY Delhi Endowment Fund project in 2011 thanks to the generosity and vision of Jan Van Hoesen and a few of his fellow charter brothers who made the initial $500 start-up contribution We have been able to build it to $2500 to date and need to raise $7500 over the next three years to meet our ini-tial commitment of $10000 by 2015 Donations to the fund are tax deductible and any help is welcomed

You know I canrsquot have a year-ending fireside chat and not remind you all about dues and how they make a differ-ence throughout the year Please remember when you pledged and joined this or-ganization you promised to send in annual dues for the rest of your life You had an over thirty year reprieve but now its time to live up to that promise

Please take a moment to go onto our Pay Pal account itrsquos a safe and efficient way to pay your dues or make a donation (Just click on the PayPal link)

If electronics are not your bag then be a traditionalist and write us a check made out to KSE AA Either way it will help us get things like the Website done and keep things moving forward on projects like the Alumni Weekend Golf Tournament Call me if you want to con-tribute to the KΣESUNY Delhi Endowment fund I would love to hear from you

to differentiate us and with Jim as our mentor we had the pieces in place to project a very positive public image and draw attention to KΣE in a truly unique and very wholesome way

Last fallrsquos successful rush and pledging process are a testament to the fact that we are clearly on the right track KΣE has successfully estab-lished itself as a ldquoMen for Othersrdquo organization dedi-cated to making a difference and respected as a fraternity not a 16oz cup frat We are very proud of that

David Leonardo (518) 783-0787 DBRL317aolcom

There is a lot of competition when the Active Brothers are out there prospecting for new members One of our first challenges we faced when resurrecting KΣE was defin-ing our identity and establish-ing why a prospect would

want to join KΣE

The competitionrsquos primary tool for drawing attention to their organizations has been the 16oz cup and who threw the best parties We had no interest in using that as our way to grow KΣE We decid-ed that our strategy had to have a focus on nostalgia and the fact that KΣE had real history going back to the six-ties steeped in traditions

based on fellowship and driven by a commitment to the values built into our crest

What we needed was a con-temporary call to action along with unique branding to help us differentiate KΣE from the other organizations Some-thing that succinctly stated our principles and why KΣE would be the prospectrsquos best choice when choosing the right fraternity to join

The call to action was easy and we immediately adopted ldquoMen for Othersrdquo as our action statement Enter into the equation Brother James Kelly providing us with the opportunity to adopt the ldquomagic of magicrdquo as a way

The Magic of Magic instead of the 16oz Cup

Itrsquos going to be an amazing weekend with KΣE hosting the Alumni Weekend Golf Tournament to kick things off on Friday May 31st followed by the Brooks Barbecue and it just keeps ramping up with Dr Krsquos Motown review and then fireworks Now thatrsquos just Friday Brothers

Saturday morning kicks off with our annual KΣE reunion

breakfast and meeting fol-lowed by another day filled with activities and plenty of opportunities to reminisce I highly recommend purchas-ing the ldquoAll Access Passrdquo as your best value for taking advantage of all that the weekend has to offer

One thing that I can assure you is that the SUNY Delhi Alumni Centennial Celebra-

tion is ldquoNot your average Alumni Weekendrdquo Our Alum-ni Committee and all the folks involved have pulled out all the stops to assure that this yearrsquos event will be one to be remembered for years to come Consider this your personal invitation to attend

ecutive Board effectively bridge the over thirty year gap from our past to the present

Louis just pledged last Spring (2012) and then promptly graduated making him an Alumni Brother and eligible to join our Executive Board Why Lou-is Simplehellip He bleeds black and white has great skill-sets for his po-sition works like a dog and is ex-tremely reliable He really caught our eye when he sent us his rendi-tion of a Rush Brochure for KΣE that was eventually put into print and instrumental in helping KΣE execute its most successful resurrection rush effort and pledge class to date

Know that Louis has more than made his mark and he represents a milestone connection that speaks volumes on the progress that has

been made in securing KΣErsquos future

Make no mistake about ithellip

Louis is always right on top of it

KΣE would like to thank James Kelly former President of The Society of American Magi-cians - the old-est magic fra-ternal order in the world - for his warm invita-tion to advance elevate and preserve magic as a performing art and better

way for KΣE to project a unique and positive public image through the magic of magic

Through his prowess and teachings KΣE has been able to adopt and gradually implement basic magic skills into our pledging process Jim has been with us every step of the way guiding explaining and reveal-ing to us the skill-sets required to perform acts not only to the delight of our brothers but by extension anyone else we may touch in life with random showings of his spec-tacular close-up tricks

Thank you Jim for sharing your won-derful talents with us May we honor your efforts by bringing an extra sparkle to an ordinary day through-out our lives while sharing the magic of magic when its needed most Your legacy of magic will never die

It started with a chance meet-ing of a couple KΣE Alumni Brothers at a SUNY Delhi Alumni Weekend and then a few subsequent phone calls led to an avalanche of effort to revive KΣE Why What was the point after so many years

A very special thanks goes out to brothers like Jim Kelly Don Leslie Mike Huvane and Jan Van Hoesen along with a host of other Alumni Brothers for their extremely thoughtful donations of time

You know I canrsquot have a year-ending fireside chat and not remind you all about dues and how they make a differ-ence throughout the year Please remember when you pledged and joined this or-ganization you promised to send in annual dues for the rest of your life You had an over thirty year reprieve but now its time to live up to that promise

to differentiate us and with Jim as our mentor we had the pieces in place to project a very positive public image and draw attention to KΣE in a truly unique and very wholesome way

You know I canrsquot have a year-ending fireside chat and not remind you all about dues and how they make a differ-ence throughout the year Please remember when you pledged and joined this or-ganization you promised to send in annual dues for the rest of your life You had an over thirty year reprieve but now its time to live up to that promise

to differentiate us and with Jim as our mentor we had the pieces in place to project a very positive public image and draw attention to KΣE in a truly unique and very wholesome way

So what if he is on the KΣE AA Executive Board We still donrsquot think twice about sticking him in the loft at the cabin No He is not our own personal con-nection to Cro-Magnon man but he is the link that truly helps our Ex-

ecutive Board effectively bridge the over thirty year gap from our past to the present
