Kansas Watercolor SocietyNATIONAL EXHIBITION 2013
The Wichita Center for the Arts is pleased to sponsor the Kansas Watercolor Society National Exhibition 2013. This year we recognize and celebrate the Kansas Watercolor Society’s 44th Anniversary.
The Kansas Watercolor Society National Exhibition features the art disciplines we teach and support here at The Wichita Center for the Arts and therefore allows our members, students and community at large to view the direction of water media nationally.
This year, the juror Paul Jackson selected 87 paintings out of 384 submitted. The diverse range of subject matter and styles in this collection of work will make this an exhibition you will not want to miss!
We thank Emprise Bank for their continued exhibition underwriting support and all of the individuals, as listed, for the Cash Awards and Patron Purchase Awards, to support and give recognition to the creative endeavors of the artist.

I want to thank the Kansas Watercolor Society for the honor of judging the 2013 Exhibition. The hundreds of entries were compelling to view. Some were dramatic, some brought great emotion, some made subtle statements. All showed a love of watercolor and passion for personal expression. My final choices were difficult and they were made only after many viewings of each piece over a period of several days. As I looked carefully at each entry, I made evaluations based on elements of art, and the principles of design. I am always looking for the extraordinary, unfamiliar, and unbelievably well painted. The Kansas Watercolor Society Exhibition 2013 did not disappoint. This collection of work captures the strength and diversity of this exciting medium we all share. I’m proud to have played a part in it. I was an entrant to this competition as a young artist in 1996 and am very proud to once again be part of its legacy. Thanks to all the entrants, to the exhibition committee and staffers whose cooperation and extra effort too often goes unnoticed. - Paul Jackson, AWS, NWS
