It was a hot summer day when the KSC board of Directors arrived in Pratt for the first board meeting of the year under the leadership of Kim Kummer. The Pratt area offered many different aspects to a board meeting including the Hot/Cold water towers. Everyone was sure to get a hot shower with these in town. The Executive Board was treated to a home cooked dinner on Verneene Forssberg’s patio before they retired to have their meeting in the conference room at the Comfort Suites motel.

Epsilon Pi’s Vice President, Rita Hanson, welcomed the board to Pratt as the meetings started in earnest on Saturday Morning. Committees, Chapter Presidents and District Chairman met to set the plans in place for the year at the Senior Citizen Center on South Main. In the afternoon, Pat Josey and Diney Uhlig led our poker run into the Pratt Community to shop for the Kansas Care & Share and Disaster Fund to aid sisters in need. There was approximately $3000 collected to support these funds. In the evening they entertained us with a WHAT NOT TO WEAR STYLE SHOW. This was after Jack Ewing entertains us with a “Name that Tune” contest. As a special surprise to our President, Jack sang a very special love song to her to begin the evening entertainment. Everyone enjoyed Jack and his tunes by singing along and the competition got quite intense when people jumped from their seats to be the first to “Name that Tune.”

Saturday - Poker Run for Kansas Care & Share and Disaster fund!

In the evening Entertainment by Jack Ewing – Name that Tune and the infamous “What Not to Wear” Style Show

What a Hoot!

Jill Mattingly & Marsha Barnes – Ready for the beach with beach wear and purses. Always take your friend with you to the beach for protection. (However, Marsha never could control her dog!)

Ann Merrett – Mink is a girl’s best friend! Work it BABY!! And to think … it’s ALL at Goodwill!!!

Laura Williamson – Diamonds are a girl’s best friend. If I had some, I wouldn’t have to wear fake pearls! This outfit even has a reversible component to it. The red hair wig is a real BONUS to the apparel!

Rachael Livermoor - I got hit by a paint truck on the way to the meeting. (You know what just kills me about these photos? With some people it doesn’t matter what they put on, they look great! It’s not fair.)

Like I said some people can just wear anything and look great! Hmmmmm- Mae West use to say “it’s all in the hand baby” – it’s called “well endowed” with class!

Sondra Messenger – The latest in swimwear and the summer is almost gone – darn!! A flipflop swimwear with hat and jacket to match (maybe). (OR it could be a “peddle” pusher swimsuit)

Phyllis Simmons – I’m looking mighty fine in my casual day care suit!! Everyone at work is very jealous with my fine attire. You know what they say, “Red and yellow, catch a fellow.” … well there’s some red in there somewhere.

Bonnie Templeton - Pretty in Pink and what can I say??? She’s allllllll woman! (I think one of the WalMart people slipped in.)

Lisa Baun - It’s all about cleavage! Lisa features business wear that will “distract” the customer.

AND ….. Last but not least! Our fearless leader KIM!

That’s how it was at the “What Not To Wear” Style Show. ESA members giving us a look at what NOT to wear and they did a fine job. A good time (and a lot of chuckles) was had by all. I did hear some of the girls after the show asking where they could get some of these outfits. We always like to show up in our finest! That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

After all the fun everyone returned to the motel to put together food bags for the food banks and school supply bags for the schools. Pictured at the right are Sandie White, Sondra Messenger, Char Grelk, and Shelah Goyer putting working together. Sunday Morning we had the usual business meeting and the tables were set up around the room to promote the various programs supported by the state.

Pictured to the left are Sherry Marlow, Lisa West, Becky Kelly and Melody Wade, the ways and means committee. Below is Pam McElvain, Easter Seal Chairman giving her board report.

We had a lot of fun to begin our ESA business for the year. We will begin the journey to “Let our lives speak for ESA” in 2010-2011!
