WHAT TO BRING -Pack the night beforeRUNNING SHOES (MANDATORY)SOCKSREQUIRED RUNNING ATTIRE (KS P.E. Uniform
shirts or tank-tops, and shorts)8th Grade Transition Bag- A labeled plastic bag
(last name, first name, team) – shirt, shorts, socks, shoes, inhaler.
8th grade Swimwear and goggles Post Run Bag- Appropriate change of clothes,
towel, personal hygiene supplies.If you have asthma, you must bring your inhaler,
and run with it. No inhaler no run!
THE DAY OF THE EVENT
Come to school DRESSED in your running attire. 8th grade-swimsuit underneath.*
7:35-7:45 a.m. Meet in Advisory, teacher will take attendance.
7:45am: 8th grade students will go directly to Keawe with all belongings.
7:50am- All students will be in Keawe gym after drop off.
7:50 – 8:30am

8:40: First wave of 8th graders
8:50: Second wave of 8th graders
8th grade 1st Wave heads to the transition area.
Find sign indicating your Team. Drop Transition bags in your team area.

Walking up 8th graders you should have your transition bag, shower bag, and goggles.

When you get to the transition point, only take your goggles, and put your uniform and shoes/socks into the transition bag to set up next to the fence.
Then walk up to the stadium, and drop off you shower bag in your area.
Then proceed to the pool deck to get ready for your swim
2nd Wave: Drop off your shower bag at your team area at the stadium
Keep your your transition bag! Sit in bleachers, ready to cheer on the first wave.
8th Grade Event Start Times
9:20 – Start of first wave 400yd swim.
2nd group wait in bleachers.
9:40 - Start of second wave 400yd swim
Run course monitors (teachers and parents) will be located throughout the run route to assist you.
Security Officers will assist runners at the crossing areas along the course.
Stay on the run course at all times.
FINISH LINE PROCEDURES
As you approach the finish line, be cautious and aware.
The finishers chute will be on the field as you enter into the track.
Take a look at your time as you finish.
There will be an someone who will be handing out a numbered ticket, make sure you get one in the order that you cross the finish line
EA’s will be at tables, look for your team table, report to the table to turn in you ticket, and get checked off.
No Ticket ~ No Credit!
Clear the table and head underneath the bigger tent in the middle of Kunuiakea field. A water cooler will be available for water.
Cool down and cheer on your classmates as they finish!
Post-Event Schedule
You will shower at the high school locker room.You will be excused to shower at the following times. Until shower time, you are to hang out at the track, relax drink water, there will be some free play equipment on the field
After the shower you will go to Keku for a free play, before being excused for lunch at 11:40.
First AIDWe have a driver for transportation to
Hale Ola. She will be parked at Waonahele.
If you need medical assistance, please let a teacher know on the route. The teacher will contact the van driver to
take you to Hale Ola.
Make sure you have your inhaler.
OTHER IMPORTANT ITEMS
If you are ill or unable to participate, please let your PE teacher know. You will be assigned as a course helper.
Make-up events are to be scheduled with your teacher.
