Kamaishi Station has station buildings located next to each other for JR, and Sanriku Railway. It is possible to transfer on some trains via the passageway. For unmanned stations, passengers will get on and off at the front. ❶Buy a ticket at Kamaishi Station Purchase a ticket at a machine, pass your ticket at the gate, and head to the platform. Please enter the train through the open door. ❷Getting on at an Unmanned Station Enter through the front door, and take a boarding ticket from the issuing machine (1 per person). You can check fares by comparing your certificate to the fare chart. World Heritage Hashino Iron Mining
The Kamaishi iron industry, thriving since long ago, with a blessing of high quality iron ore. The Hashino smelting site is home to what is considered the oldest existing Western blast furnace in Japan. As a component asset of the Meiji Japan Industrial Revolution Heritage, it was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage in July of 2015.

Some trains on the Sanriku Railway are "one-man train cars," in which there is only one driver.
Kamaishi Station has station buildings located next to each other for JR, and Sanriku Railway. It is possible to transfer on some trains via the passageway.

Much of the Sanriku Railway is operated through "one-man train cars," in which there is only one driver. For unmanned stations, passengers will get on and off at the front.
❶Buy a ticket at Kamaishi StationPurchase a ticket at a machine, pass your ticket at the gate, and head to the platform. Please enter the train through the open door.
❷Getting on at an Unmanned StationEnter through the front door, and take a boarding ticket from the issuing machine (1 per person). The boarding ticket proves which station you got on the train from, so please keep it with you until you get off the train.

❶Buying a Ticket from the MachineFor manned stations, it is necessary to purchase a ticket in advance. There are also automatic ticket machines that accept credit cards (PIN required).
❷Ta k e a B o a r d i n g S t a t i o n Certificate at Unmanned StationsIf you're getting on at an unmanned station, take a boarding station certificate as you get onto the train car. You can check fares by comparing your certificate to the fare chart.

❶First Car Rear Door EntranceThe boarding entrance is located at the rear of the first car, and the exit is located at the front. For 2-car trains, the doors on the second car do not open.
❷Open the DoorWhen getting on or off the train, press the button next to the door to open or close it. Press the button when the red light is lit.
❸Insert Ticket into Fare Box, and ExitPlace your ticket, boarding station certificate, and fare into the fare box behind the driver. 500, 100, and 50 yen coins, as well as 1,000 yen bills can be exchanged at the change machine on the train. 5,000 and 10,000 yen bills cannot be exchanged, so please prepare beforehand.
