JUTA QUESTION-WRITING WORKSHOP FOR LECTURERS Time: 13.45 Date: 23 May Venue: Nyala Nook Juta Academic Publishers is hosting an exam question-writing workshop for lecturers. This workshop takes into account the changing accounting teaching and learning landscape and the need to cater to the diverse needs of the student population. The focus of the workshop is to present an overview of how to use solid assessment principles to set appropriate questions for a paper-based and e-learning exam context. Intended participants: The workshop is intended for lecturers only with a keen interest in developing their question-writing skills for an e-learning/blended learning environment. Note the workshop is limited to the number of seats available in the venue. Attendees are asked to please register on entry. Objective: An opportunity for lecturers to be trained on how to develop suitable assessment type questions for a typical paper-based exam and for e-learning question practise opportunities. Outcomes: general question and solution writing techniques. dissect an appropriate question and solution, showing how the question relates to learning outcome. repurpose a typical paper-based exam question for an online context. participate in a brief group exercise on writing a question appropriate for typical face-to-face exam scenario OR repurposing an existing question for e-learning context. Workshop trainer: Ronald Arendse is a Lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Teaching and Learning Fellow at the Directorate of Teaching and Learning at the University of the Western Cape. His research focuses on Innovative Emerging Technologies using an Authentic Learning approach to enhance student learning. Register: The workshop is for lecturers only. Attendees are required to register at the door. Juta representatives will assist at the door.
