Just a Closer Walk With Thee: Jesus, Jazz, and Justice for All of Creation Guided by: Bishop Prior, Andy Barnett and Theodicy Jazz Collective “O God, how many are your works! In wisdom you made them all,” sings the author of psalm 104. Next, the psalmist leads a nature hike through the holy land with badgers, lions, wild goats, and leviathans; springs gushing into valleys, birds chattering in lush branches, cattle gnawing grass, and food and wine to gladden the human heart. This is the charity of life on Earth and God says this is very good. Indeed, throughout scripture our ancestors were mesmerized by creation’s beauty and power. So come and be refreshed as we ask how God might give us strength, clarity, and refreshment through creation. Where might God be calling us to better steward this incredible planet for our kids? And what innovations might the Spirit welling up among us, that we may love and serve our neighbors as ourselves: greening our operations, yes, but more deeply, grounding our selves, our souls, and our bodies in this planet we call home. Worship and music will be guided by Theodicy Jazz Collective, ensemble in residence at Washington National Cathedral. Inspired by jazz, blues, gospel, traditional hymns, and world music, Theodicy seeks to expand liturgical tradition without abandoning it. The ensemble has facilitated worship across the United States and England.
