Circle 1(The Basics)

Hernan Cortes real name is Hernándo Cortés Pizarro

Born in 1485 in Medellin, Spain

Went to the University of Salamanca at age 14!!!!!!

Decided to be a soldier ,and later heard about the new world and was fascinated and joined an expedition, only to not make it aboard

Finally in 1504, he boarded a ship commanded by Alonso Quintero, to find the New world

In Hispaniola, now Haiti and Dominican republic, he went to the house of the governor, who he knew from Spain , to ask some questions, the governor wasn’t there but the secretary was and he said he could have a land grant, but Cortes said no ,because he wanted information about the new world

When the governor returned, Cortes was greatly pressured and took a piece of land

Cortes did not settle down entirely

Circle 3Over the years Cortes was married, Catalina Xuarez

He went on more travels , and became even more famous, with more money and slaves

When Mexico was discovered Cortes wanted to explore, but the governor didn’t let him because he was in and out of jail, but of course, Cortes went

Cortes landed in Yucatan

Soon became the governor of New Spain

Circle 5Built Mexico City over Tenochtitlan

In 1526, Cortes governor status was removed

Returned to Spain In 1528

Came back to New Spain (does he ever get tired?)

He built a new palace to live in

After a war, he died of pleurisy
