The Day Jesus Crossed the Line, Part 6 (Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign, Day 39) TEXT: John 4:21-30 21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. 25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. 27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her? 28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, 29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? 30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him. ---------- Today, I am continuing the daily Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign sermon series, which is aimed at sharing the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with unbelievers and reminding Christians, in this important election year, to keep the main thing the main thing -- and that is reaching unbelievers with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and praying for their salvation, for the problem in America is not only disobedient presidents and politicians but disobedient pastors, preachers, and parishioners who have refused to obey God's Great Commission and who have refused to obey God's repeated commands to "pray without ceasing" for unbelievers, believers, and political leaders. Yes, you should pray for the right candidate to win; yes, you should vote for the candidate that the Lord gives you peace about voting for. But, don't get caught up in it

like the world does. Nothing much is going to change until people get saved and get their hearts right with the Lord. This campaign is inspired by the following three verses: 1 Corinthians 2:2 which says, "For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." Acts 5:42 which says, "And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ." And 2 Timothy 2:4 which says, "No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier."

This series is not for Christians necessarily. However, I do hope you are one of those saints who still loves to hear the "Old, old story of Jesus and His love" -- As the hymn says, "For those who know it best Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest." This series is primarily for unbelievers, so they can hear and understand the Gospel and be saved from sin and the punishment of sin which is hell. This is message number 39.

Stasi Eldredge said, "Our hope doesn't rest on our finally getting it together. Our hope rests in Jesus. Jesus in us. It's Christ in us, the hope of glory. We won't be perfect on this side of heaven. But Jesus is perfect. We are becoming more holy and true. Jesus already is. His name isn't 'Becoming.' It is 'I Am.' Perfection isn't the goal. Jesus is." Throughout their conversation, Jesus has given eye-opening spiritual knowledge to the woman at the well. He does not try to get her to accept what He is teaching without giving her a basis for belief. He patiently explained living water, brought up the issue of her own sin, and discussed the meaning of true worship. When He told the woman, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth," a light came on in the woman's head. Previously, she thought Jesus was a rabbi, a "great" man, or a prophet. Now, she realizes that what Jesus is talking about cannot take place until the prophesied Messiah arrives. The Samaritans as well as the Jews were practicing animal sacrifice as the main way through which they related to God. The Samaritan woman knew that worship by animal sacrifice would not end (and worship in spirit and truth would not begin) until the Messiah came. So she says, "I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things." The Samaritan woman is willing to wait until the Messiah comes until she gets her life together. She, like many of us, want a full explanation before we get into anything. It’s called due diligence today. She wants the Messiah to come, explain 'all things', then she will make up her mind. Imagine this woman's amazement when Jesus responds, "I that speak unto thee am he."

It is interesting to note that in Greek, the word "he" is not included; the translators added that word to make for easier reading. What Jesus literally said was, "I that speak unto thee, I am." He not only confirmed that He was the Messiah, but that He was God. Now, things began to make sense to the Samaritan woman. No wonder Jesus had spoken so compellingly about living water. No wonder He knew about her sinful lifestyle. No wonder He spoke so wisely about how to worship God. No other man could have known these things. The Samaritan woman immediately believed. Jesus had given her every reason to believe. At this point, Jesus' disciples come back from buying food. They look disapprovingly on the scene they are met with. As typical Jewish men, they frown upon their master speaking in public with a woman, especially a Samaritan woman. But John informs us that they do not say anything aloud. Next John tells us, "The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? Then they went out of the city, and came unto him." The woman forgot all about the physical, material fulfillment that she had been seeking when Jesus arrived. She had new life and living water bubbling up in her soul. Everything else paled in comparison. Her euphoria was so great that she ran to tell other people in the city about Jesus the Messiah. She did not care that these very same people had previously looked down on her and treated her as an outcast because of her sinful lifestyle. She did not care that the other women forced her to go to the well alone. She was not ashamed to face the men whom she had previously had a relationship with. The good news of Jesus trumped all that. This, of course, was Jesus' goal all along. He had deliberately crossed ethnic, gender, and religious lines in order to reach the Samaritan woman and her people. Now, this woman was breaking through her embarrassment and shame in order to introduce her people to the Messiah who could give them all living water. Like the Samaritan woman, you will find that all physical and material endeavours will pale in comparison to a genuine relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Jesus offers to you the very same thing that He offered the Samaritan woman -- eternal life and a permanent, fulfilling relationship with God. Will you accept this offer like the Samaritan woman did?

If you want to get to know Jesus Christ as your Saviour today, you must first accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen. If you just trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, and you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, I declare to you that based upon the Word of God, you are now saved from Hell and you are on your way to Heaven.
