Givingandreceivingsolidarity:Educationasatooltochangelives.

Somedaysandscenarios,youbecomeawareofanoldsongbyAlbertoCortes:

Suddenlymorestronglythaninotheryears,Iamfacedwithaconflict,tomoveforwardwithourdreamsandadvocacyandcommunicationCCIAV,CC4AVE,andglobalnetworkasafoundationfordevelopment.

Thisscenariomaythinkfrommultipleperspectivesallbiographical,generationalandexistential.Thelongstoryis:howisitthatsomeslavesbroughttoBrazil,havingachildcouldfallinlovewithCatalinaGarcia,aSpanishwhite?

Orconversely,asispossibleforsomeonetoventureoutoflovetogiveupever

ythingtostartlifeinotherlands,lifeonthemainlandsouthtoUNCERTAINmigrationtoanislandlikeSantoDomingo,between1876and1890.

Finally,FranciscoAntonioSantos(a)Totoñoor"BlackEagle"(1876-1951),mygreat-grandfather,isalwaysmorethanamysterynotsufficientlyrevealed,startingwiththeabsenceofinformationabouttheirearlychildhood,hissinglelifeinBrazil,justbeforetheGoldenRule,whichendedslaverythere,thelastbastionofAmericanslavery,amongotheritemsofinterest.

Thetruthisthattherearesentourparentalorigins,butneverhadnewsofth



ischaracteruntilthedeathofmyfather,whenmyauntAnaJosefarecallinghisexperiencewithfilmRaices(Roots),toldmethathisfather,LuisMariaSantos(mygrandfather),henarratedthathisfatherwasthesonofBrazilianslavesinthelatenineteenthcentury.

ThatinfourgenerationsofAfricandescent,weretobethepositionofhavingadoctor,wasthesceneoftheDominicanRepublic,andespeciallyundertheTrujillodictatorship,somethingslightlylessthannot,whenoffices,workingforablackinthelatenineteenthandearlytwentiethcentury’s,weretosentences:

tinker,military,barberortailor,predominantly,plusdriver.

Nottomentionthatinthefifthgeneration,appearedbornapoetoramusician,moreunlikelythatsomeonewinsthelottery,withoutplayingoroustachieveacasino.

Finally,throughthematernalline,theoriginsarenolessconfusedandremote,anadventurer,thematernalgreat-grandfather,CarlosGraciano,dependingontheversionofmyuncleEnrique,whoatage92retainstheluciditytoreconstructonpapertreesgenealogical,andworkedasalumberjackwithanax,aneventwhichIwitnessedlastyear.

ulturalpropertyspeculationand,althoughborninValladolid,andhisdescendantshadtoagreetotheAmericangovernmentofoccupation,intheDuartehighwayconstruction,inorderforthereturnofkm9to20s-awaybythepatriarchhadperishedinashipwreck,pirateattack,-as,AlwaysversionsofUncleEnriqueinthelatenineteenthcentury,whenhetriedtocapitalize,togetherwiththeirfamilies,tocontinueinvestments.

Amongsomanyrealistic,"downonearth",slightlylessthanlikelysomeonewouldbedevotedtothewaysofsolidarityorthedefenseofpubliceducationasamobilitytoolsocio-culturalandsocio-economic,theSTATEORTHEOTHER.
