Congratulations on completing our first week of school. I am so amazed with all of student getting back into the swing of school. Our kindergarten students walked in with such confidence.Thank you to all of our families as we work through our dismissal and arrival procedures. We had our first practice fire drill today and everyone did a great job. Please remind your children to wash their hands and social distance as much as possible. Kudos to our teachers and staff! They will be hibernating this weekend to catch up on much needed sleep :)

School District Of Palm Beach County NewsRESPONSIBILITIES OF STUDENTS/FAMILIES • Student or student's parent/guardian must self-report a positive COVID-19 test for any member of the household no later than the following school day. The school administrator will alert their supervisor and District administration to make a determination on any necessary cleaning of affected areas. • Students will not be assigned to distance learning when self-isolating/quarantined. A student who tests positive must remain home and be provided school work to make up. A copy of the test results shall be provided to the school nurse. A student may return to school once he or she is symptom-free including no fever of 100.4 and above in the previous 24 hours while not using fever-reducing medications.• Student self-screenings for temperature are encouraged but not required. • Follow revised school procedures needed for health and safety. • Follow Health Service Protocols for contact tracing. • COVID-19 Vaccination

Social and Emotional Updates

A few times throughout this year, we are going to be doing a read aloud together as a whole school that will focus on a social and emotional essential idea or concept. We will be calling it our “SEL Book of the Quarter”. Our book for this quarter is I Am Enough by Grace Byers. The essential idea in this book is centered around the concept of self acceptance which is part of the competency of Self-Awareness.. Below are some possible discussion prompts related to self acceptance and self awareness that you can use to discuss as a family if you wish.

Star Staff Highlight

Hello! My name is Laura Persek. Our students formerly knew me as Ms. Ahlgren. I’ve had a few different roles here at JFCES since 2018 and I am absolutely thrilled with my new role as a third grade teacher. I’m really excited to put my love of education to good use and help our students grow. I am a native Palm Beach County resident and live here in Jupiter Farms with my husband and two children. When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family, boating, snorkeling, traveling, gardening, and equestrian activities. I’m looking forward to having a great adventure this year with our amazing school family!

Hello everyone! I’m Michael Rebholz. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania. Prior to moving to South Florida, I spent four years serving in the Air Force. Once in Florida, I attended Florida Atlantic University, where I received my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and recently my Master’s in Educational Leadership. This is my ninth year in the field of education, where I have spent a majority of my career as a fourth and fifth grade teacher. I'm excited to be back for my third year at Jupiter Farms; the collaboration between teachers, students, parents, and community are what make this school special. My current roles at the school are as the Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) teacher and member of the School Based Team (SBT). I look forward to being able to work with students across all grades levels this year in order to ensure that every child has a successful school year!

What’s Happening Around Campus

Online student shirt orders delivering to school ONLY update: Unfortunately, we’ve received notification of both Booster Spirit Wear and

UPS delays for these orders.. When these orders were placed, we didn’t know which

teachers students would have. Friday, we will match student orders to classrooms and hope to have them sent home and in student backpacks

by Wednesday 08/18. We appreciate your continued understanding and flexibility as we

navigate the online shirt store for the first time. Please refer to the dress code policy as you

await these shirts (students may wear a solid polo or T-shirt in the meantime).
