2014 Junior Golf Camp ~ Wilderness Ridge

WELCOME to the Wilderness

Ridge Junior Golf Camp experience!

We are excited you are planning to

have your son or daughter join us for a

full week of discovery about the game

of golf. During the week we will

cover most aspects of the game

in a beginning stage atmosphere

that will be highlighted by some fun

drills, games and contests. The overall

mission for our junior golf program is to

provide each child with a consistent

and fun atmosphere while being

introduced to the game by our caring

and specialized staff.

Beginning at registration, your child

will be placed in a group based on

their age and they will stay with that

group for the entire week. Groups are

FRIDAY FUN DAY WRAP UPFriday Fun Day consists of fun games at each station (Putting, Chipping & Full

Swing) that will incorporate all the things we learned during the week but in a

fun contest for all. The full swing game will utilize the KWIK Golf game where kids

play a course for time and not score. Following the games the staff will wrap

things up with a lunch for the kids along with prizes for each child.

SPECIALIZED LEARNING – SNAG ™We will be utilizing some special equip-

ment called “SNAG” ® which stands for

“Starting New At Golf”. It is a FUN game

that is EASY to learn and can be played

ANYWHERE. SNAG™ contains all the

basic elements of golf, but in a modified

form. Falling somewhere between

miniature golf and regulation golf, SNAG

™ allows for full shots, pitching, chipping

and putting. SNAG ™ contains all the

elements of golf but in a modified form.

The game has its own simplified rules

and terminology that adds fun to the

learning and playing experience. SNAG

® Golf equipment and training tools

are specifically designed to simplify the

learning process.

KWIK GOLFGolf is often thought of to be a SLOW

moving sport. Not NOW! We will once

again be utilizing the KWIK Golf system

which allows kids to play a fast paced,

safe game of golf that focuses more on

speed than it does score. The game is

fast moving and extremely fun for kids!

May June July Director of Golf, Chris Thomson, PGA

was named the 2011 Nebraska

Section PGA Junior Golf Leader and

nominated in 2013 for the Nebraska

Section PGA Player Development

Award.

The junior golf programs address the introduction to the game for younger beginner

children through our camp atmosphere. Once they are ready to “graduate” to

a higher level program, many move over to the weekly junior golf league. This is a

developmental league that gets kids ready for more golf, practicing regularly and

prepares them through middle school as they start to think about high school options.
