2
Soccer: Grab your soccer ball and take to the field. Check out the grassy areas in Blue Ridge beyond the library, Fort Assiniboine’s Walsh Park, or Goose Lake Hall Field.
Campfire: Buy a bag of marshmallows and have a small campfire in the pits provided. Campfire pits can be found at Blue Ridge Recreation Area, Freeman River, Groat Creek Campground, Anselmo Community Hall, Goose Lake Campground, and Schuman Lake.
Bird Watching: Grab your binoculars and see if you can spot some of our fine feathered friends, Hard Luck Canyon and Blue Ridge Recreation Area are home to many warblers.
Hiking: Lace up your shoes and get on a trail at Hard Luck Canyon, Centre of Alberta, Heutis Demonstration Forest, Blue Ridge Recreation Area.
Baseball: Take to the diamond for a game of pick-up ball or catch at any of these locations: Anselmo Hall, Walsh Park in Fort Assiniboine, Blue Ridge Ball Diamonds, and Topland Recreation Grounds.
Camping: Spend the night or weekend outdoors under the stars! You can get closer to nature in any one of these campgrounds around Woodlands County: Freeman River RV Park (780.584.2364), Goose Lake Campground (780.584.2480), Horse Creek Ranch (888.699.6099), Woodlands RV Park and River Marina (780.584.2222), or Groat Creek Group Campground (800.313.7383).
Swimming: Cool off at the Blue Ridge Spray Park or rent a boat or go for a swim at Carson Pegasus Provincial Park.

Photography: Woodlands County is home to many scenic spots like Hard Luck Canyon, Groat Creek, the Athabasca River, Fort Assiniboine Museum, Goose Lake, and Schuman Lake.
Museum: Brush up on your history at Fort Assiniboine Museum. Open 11a.m. - 5 p.m. on weekends in June.
Fishing: Drop your line and try to score a catch of the day. A variety of fish awaits: Schuman Lake (rainbow trout), Mouth of the Freeman (Athabasca rainbow trout, grayling, pike, walleye, mountain whitefish, northern pike), and Goose Lake (pike, perch). A valid fishing licence is required.
Ice Cream: Take a break for a cool treat, our favourites for a summer cool down: Marty’s in Fort Assiniboine, Blue Ridge General Store, and Goose Lake Campground Store boasts icy treats.

Horseback Riding: Saddle up partners and take to the trails – Fort Assiniboine Sandhills Wildland Park offers a large variety of scenic trails to take your favourite horse on.
Tubing: Grab your tube, and start your float at McLeod River (just off West Mountain Road). The float can take a couple of hours down to the take out, so don’t forget to pack water and snacks.
