REVIEW OF PRIOR KNOWLEDGE• Started on 1939

• Germany Allied itself with Italy and Japan.

• Germany and Italy have gained control of most of Europe while Japan has done the same on Asia.

• The Allies have already begun the invasion of Italy-controlled North Africa and Italy itself.

• Germany and Italy decide to not invade mountainous

Switzerland.

• Japan attacks Pearl Harbor and the U.S. joins the war.

• The Nazis, with their leader Adolf Hitler, have begun

exterminating Jews and other minorities.

PREPARATION FOR D-DAY

• The Allies name Dwight D. Eisenhower as Commander

of all Allied forces.

• Brought most of their forces into Britain.

• The British use their program “Double Cross” to

turn over German spies and feed Germany false

information.

PREPARATION FOR D-DAY• Use of pictures of fake

armies, trucks, and machinery were used to hide the Allies invasion

destinations.

• Bad weather almost caused General

Eisenhower to postpone D-day

INVASION

• Allied forces invade Germany controlled France

on June 6, 1944.

• Attack five different location sites

simultaneously. (Beaches of Normandy)

• False information given to Germany causes landing

sites to be lightly guarded.

• Largest military invasion in all of history.
