ABC congratulated the winners of its 2015 NaƟonal CraŌ Championships compeƟƟon during the March 6 “Careers in ConstrucƟons” awards held during the associaƟon’s Workforce Develop- ment Forum, March 3-6, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A field of 187 craŌ trainees competed for top honors in 15 compeƟƟons represenƟng 12 craŌs, including a new masonry compeƟƟon and new team compeƟƟon with journey-level craŌ pro- fessionals from five different craŌs working to complete a joint project. CompeƟtors first took an intense, two-hour wriƩen exam and then competed in daylong hands-on pracƟcal perfor- mance tests in: carpentry, electrical-industrial, electrical-residenƟal, fire sprinkler, HVAC, instru- mentaƟon fiƫng, insulaƟon, millwright, pipefiƫng, plumbing, sheet metal, welding-pipe, weld- ing-structural and masonry. ABC congratulated the winners of its 2015 Na onal Cra Championships compe on during the March 6 “Careers in Construc ons” awards held during the associa on’s Workforce Develop-ment Forum, March 3-6, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Orlando, FL. – (March 9, 2015) -- The Florida Concrete Masonry Educa on Council (FCMEC) held a signing ceremony March 4 to signify their commitment to a program that will help fund masonry educa on and promo on in Florida. The event, a ended by more than 30 indus-try execu ves from various companies was held in the Masonry Lab on the Mid Florida Tech campus in Orlando. Those in a end-ance witnessed industry producers A-1 Block, Argos Ready Mix, LLC., CEMEX Con-struc on Materials Florida, LLC., Mas-chmeyer Concrete Company of Florida, Inc., Pres ge Concrete Products, Supermix/Superblock and Titan Florida, LLC. become the first to sign on to support the Act by
voluntarily contribu ng to the Florida Concrete Masonry Educa on Council, beginning April 1st, 2015. The council, appointed by Governor Rick Sco , is tasked with bringing together masonry manufacturers and contractors in an effort to plan and conduct training programs, improving access to masonry educa on, developing outreach programs to ensure diversity and inform-ing the public about the sustainability and economic benefits of concrete masonry products. “This marks a momentous day for our industry and we look forward to implemen ng these important educa onal programs for masons across the state,” said FCMEC Chairman Troy Maschmeyer. “We've been collec vely working on this program for a very long me and we are enthusias c about the many benefits it will bring to the industry."
