Packing up all your worldly belongings and moving to another country is a daunting feat, but a move from India to New Zealand four years ago has proven invaluable for Ninu George.

“I am very proud to say I am the first international Master’s graduate at NZTC. Everyone at the College is very happy for me and proud of my achievement. I consider it a privilege to study at NZTC with the supportive team of teachers and lecturers,” said Ninu.

After working with high school students in India, Ninu decided that her passion lay with young children, so she brought her Indian teaching experience to New Zealand and wrote her thesis on ‘Transitional experiences of Indian teachers from Indian education system to New Zealand early childhood education’ - a comparison between the Indian and New Zealand early childhood education system.

Ninu plans to further her study sometime in the future with a Master’s degree in English literature after having completed a Bachelor’s degree in India. She aspires to be a lecturer in early childhood education at NZTC and is looking forward to having more time to pursue voluntary work now that she has finished her Master’s in early childhood education.

As the first international student to graduate from NZTC with a Master of Education in early childhood education, Ninu’s accomplishment was celebrated at the annual NZTC graduation ceremony held in April.

The celebration was made all the more special by the fact that Ninu is among the first two Master of Education (ECE) students to graduate from NZTC, the only Private Training Establishment in the country to offer this qualification.

NZTC’s International Marketing Manager, Audrey Wang, and International Marketing Officer, Shilo Zhang, participated in the Auckland International Local Agent Forum on 13 May. The forum, which was organised by Study Auckland, was attended by 42 agents and representatives from 41 institutes.

Audrey and Shilo spoke with many of NZTC’s current agents, who provided positive feedback showing that our qualifications have been widely recognised in their markets. In addition to current agents, Audrey and Shilo also spoke with new agents who work mainly in the markets of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Japan, and shared information with these agents regarding NZTC’s programs of study which was met with interest.

NZTC promoted its offering of qualifications at the Careers Expo: Christchurch 2015

The expo was held at Christchurch’s Horncastle Arena, from 7-10 May, attracting students interested in learning about potential career options. Over 50 tertiary institutes, training organisations, and companies exhibited at the expo to discuss the qualifications and opportunities they offer.

Representing NZTC were International Marketing Officer (Christchurch) Emma Li, and Enrolments Officers/Student Services Advisors (Christchurch) Emma Hastie and Trish Aitken.

NZTC staff members from our Christchurch Campus exhibit at this expo each year, finding it an excellent opportunity to speak with high school students and their parents, answering any questions they may have about the College and a career in early childhood education.

NZTC representatives met many interested students who wished to be updated with further information about NZTC’s open evenings and the ‘student for the day’ initiative.
