Paleza Editorial Board I n line with the DOLE conver- gence initiative to promote productivity, RTWPB - Caraga, together with NCMB, DOLE, ECC and OSH conducted a plant- level Labor – Management Com- mittee Convergence Program and LHP Seminar to the management and employees of SOCOTECH last May 8 at the SOCOTECH Li- brary, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur. SOCOTECH has been a productivity training beneficiary of the Board since 2013, having availed of the 5S and ISTIV PAP training programs. At present, SOCOTECH is one of the seven (7) regional nominees for the RTWPB Caraga teams up with DOLE, attached agencies R TWPBs CAR, IV-B and X approved an increase in the minimum wage in their respective regions. Wage Order No. CAR-17, which takes effect on June 29, 2015, granted a P2.00 to P8.00 basic pay increase, bringing the minimum wage in non-agriculture and retail/service employing 11 or more workers in Baguio City and municipalities of La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba and Benguet (BLIST) to P285. In the rest of the region, minimum wage earners in these sectors will receive a daily minimum wage of P265. In agri- culture and retail/service establish- ments with 10 or less workers, the new minimum wage is P270 for BLIST and P255 in the non-BLIST areas. By January 1, 2016, the minimum wage classifications in the region shall be simplified into “All Industries/Sectors” and “Microenterprises” for both BLIST and non-BLIST areas. The Wage Order does not allow exemption. In MIMAROPA, Wage Order No. IV-B-07, which will take effect on July 3, 2015, approved a P10 – P30 daily wage increase to be given in four tranches. This brings the new minimum wage, upon effectivity, to P260 – P280 in non-agricultural establishments with 10 or more workers; P210 – P220 in non-agricultural establish- ments with less than 10 workers; P220 – P230 in agriculture and; P280 in all mining companies, regardless of location. Domingo to attend the 104th Inter- national Labour Conference (ILC), held last May 31 – June 13 in Geneva, Switzerland. The DOLE delegation was headed by Undersecretary for Labor Relations, Social Dialogue and Internal Affairs Cluster Rebecca C. Chato. NWPC joins the DOLE delegation to the 104th ILC Deputy Executive Director Hornilla represented the DOLE (govern- ment representative) to the Committee on the Recurrent Discussions on Labour Protection. This year, the committee dis- cussions focused on the cover- age and level of and compliance to minimum wages, working time arrangements, maternity benefits and occupational safety and health. 2015 Productivity Olympics. During the seminar, the Board emphasized the impor- tance of promoting a work culture of productivity towards ensuring labor-management cooperation in continuous process improvements. For its part, the NCMB discussed the creation of LMCs and its role in promoting productivity. The DOLE-RO discussed the family welfare program and the Labor LawsCompliance System (LLCS). Twenty three participants from SOCOTECH attended the activity. In line with the DOLE conver-

gence initiative to promote

productivity, RTWPB - Caraga,

together with NCMB, DOLE,

ECC and OSH conducted a plant-

level Labor – Management Com-

mittee Convergence Program and

LHP Seminar to the management

and employees of SOCOTECH

last May 8 at the SOCOTECH Li-

brary, San Francisco, Agusan del

Sur.

SOCOTECH has been a

productivity training benefi ciary

of the Board since 2013, having

availed of the 5S and ISTIV PAP

training programs. At present,

SOCOTECH is one of the seven

(7) regional nominees for the

In line with the implemen-

tation of the ASEAN Free

Trade Agreement (AFTA) and

the General Agreement on Tariff

and Trade (GATT) in relation to

the the proposed wage increase,

RTWPB-X convened a dialogue

with the Bukidnon Mill District

Development Council Founda-

tion to discuss the economic

situation of the sugar industry in

the region.

The Bukidnon Mill Dis-

trict, representing more than

27,000 planters, proposed

pakyaw rates for the sugar

(agricultural) workers based on

the uniqueness of the industry.

The Board, however, has yet

to deliberate and decide on the

proposed rates.

On improving the produc-

tivity of the sugar industry, the

Board suggested that the Council

benchmark with ASEAN countries

like Thailand. The Council, how-

ever, implied that other countries

have low loan interests and taxes,

enjoy strong support from govern-

ment and are fully mechanized.

The Board committed to

carefully study the proposal of

the Council.

nomic Development Authority,

and the Department of Energy to

provide updates on major econom-

ic indicators as well as the supply

and price of basic food and non-

food commodities.

The Board has also been

conducting a series of wage

consultations last May in Bohol

and Dumaguete. The third leg

of its consultation will be with

the sugar industry and other stake-

holders affected by Typhoon

Yolanda in Northern Cebu.

Documenting the Quality Manage-

ment System, facilitated by Ms.

Ma. Cecilia M. Fabian of Rosehall

Managament Consultants, Inc.

at the BWC Conference Room,

Intramuros, Manila last June 8.

The objective of the

workshop was for participants to

understand the ISO 9001:2015

documentation requirements. The

workshop covered topics on docu-

mentation requirements, creating

and updating documented infor-

mation, and processes in control-

ling documented information.
