In March, the book of Jonah, the Gospel of Luke and a little spelling guide were printed

the first literature to ever be published in the Kwamba language. It took four years

to see this accomplished and the amount of

time, money and hard work so many

people invested into these three different

books is astounding!

Thanks to so many of my colleagues, the

Bamba people will have these three glossy

little books in their own language now,

and a good foundation for further language

development and Bible translation.

The last two months have been busy ones,

both at work and at home! Some exciting

milestones have been met in the translationprojects and the New Testaments are getting

even closer to completion. Which is amazing!

At home, we had a missions team of one ar-

rive and give our house a total facelift with all

the painting and other projects she accom-

plished. We are SO grateful that my Mom,

Annie Halland, could come for a two month

visit. She helped out in so many different

ways and really blessed us!

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know

that you receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Anyone

who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong and there is no favoritism. Colossians 3:23-25

Progress!Progress!Progress!Progress!Although numerous challenges were en-

countered in the last two months, the pro-

gress that all of the translation teams have

made since our last newsletter is encour-

aging!

In April the Gungu team had their last

remaining New Testament books, 1 3

John, consultant checked. The end of

May the Nyole team completed consult-

ant checking their last remaining book of

the New Testament, 2 Corinthians.

This month (June) the Gungu team be-

gan the final checking with consultant

Enoch Wandera and Translation Advi-

sor Andrew Angupale (who recently

completed translating and typesetting

the Aringa NT).

The Nyole team also began final check-

ing with consultant Samuel Mubbala

this month and the Bwisi team contin-

ues to work with consultant Waller

Tabb, in the U.S, via Skype and various

other computer programs, in final

checking.

In July the Gwere team will have the last remaining book of their New Testament, 2 Corin-

thians, consultant checked as well.

Please continue to pray for me as my job entails being an intermediary between higher

administration and the translation teams in the field. This position has not been easy and the

last six years of filling this role are catching up with me. There are deadlines to be met,

funding that runs out, cross cultural issues that need to be recognized, unrealistic expecta-tions that are made, and a plethora of other complicated issues that must be dealt with on a

day by day basis. I am wearing out!

Pray for perseverance, that the translators, consultants and I would stay focused on the task,

and not become discouraged. Thank God for translators and consultants who are committed

to seeing the New Testaments completed and pray for diligence and good health for them.

The last stretch seems to be proving the most demanding!

My Mom arrived the beginning of April and was able to stay through the beginning of June.

Two whole months! Mom was able to achieve some incredible accomplishments while she

was here like painting the ENTIRE inside of the house (thats THREE coats of paint, peo-

ple!) and organizing for the outside to be painted as well. This was huge!

In her down time when not painting, she managed to make and paint curtain rods, mend a

variety of torn things with her trusty needle and thread, sew some curtains, and (one of my

most hated and despised projects) clean out a lot of junk from our house and organize! I

reallyneeded the help. It is so great to have things cleaned and organized now and will be

so much easier to maintain!

It wasnt all work and no play however. We

managed to watch several different dog oper-

ations, and go to a 3D movie in Kampala

Moms first! We also took a safari trip towestern Uganda where we visited two differ-

ent national parks and saw a good variety of

Ugandan wild animals, ranging from impala

to elephants. The highlight of my safari was

riding a horse through the wilds of Uganda

with my son, through herds of zebra, impala

and topi truly amazing!The back of the housePAINTED!

ment. These days with educated, competent mother tongue translators and improved com-

puter and translation software technology, it is taking far less long!

Instead of twenty or more years, like in the past, it has taken our translation projects nine to

eleven years to translate the entire New Testament. This does not include the time spent be-

forehand on linguistics and orthography development, nor the time spent on final checking,

typesetting and publishing, but nevertheless, New Testaments can be produced far more

quickly these days with mother tongue translators!

Praise and PrayerPraise and PrayerPraise and PrayerPraise and Prayer

Praise for the printing and publishing of the Kwamba Book of Jonah and Gospel of

Luke. Pray that the Bamba people would utilize these Scriptures and be motivated to

know and live for Jesus.

Praise for the dedication of the Aringa New Testament this month. Pray that the Aringa

people would utilize their Scriptures and through them come to know the one true God

and Savior.

Praise for my Moms stay in Uganda, all of the work that she was able to accomplish,

good health, and for the fun and safe travels that we had.

Praise for the serious relationship that I am in,

and pray for wisdom, that we would both grow

closer to Christ through it and make wise deci-

sions, especially concerning the future.

Praise for the educational opportunities

that Ella and Frankie have, and that

Frankie has had some gaps filled in con-

cerning his reading. Pray that they would

continue to receive good teaching, ask

questions, and learn.
