Maintenance work done at Fingal Anglican Cemetery
Before
As shown in these photos, the Fingal Anglican cemetery has recently received some special attention.
This Cemetery is not Council owned or maintained but the Town Maintenance Team (Jason, Brett, Mark and Stephen ) have made a great effort in trying to bring it back into shape.
After
Binalong Bay Waste Transfer Station to close
As part of Council’s ongoing review of waste management in the municipality, Council has determined that the Binalong Bay Waste Transfer Station be closed from 30 June 2013.
In making this decision, Council noted factors including:
Costs associated with leasing, staffing and maintaining the site and meeting legislative obligations for maintenance, reporting and rehabilitation of a transfer station;
The service is being provided to a relatively small segment of the Break O’Day community;
An alternative service is available at St Helens Waste Transfer Station providing a similar level of accessibility as experienced by other members of the Break O’Day community.
Council understands that this will have an impact on residents that currently utilise the site and apologises for any inconvenience. Council has, and will, consider options to reduce the impact, such as possible occasional fee free days for green waste at other sites.
Council does wish to remind everyone in the Break O’Day area, that illegal
and inappropriate dumping of green waste (and other waste) can have
significant repercussions. One example is that exotic and garden plants can
establish in bush areas and become serious weed problems, not just to the
environment but to productive rural land. This can be very costly to manage
or control and prevention is the best option.
SBS COVERAGE AFTER DIGITAL UPGRADE
In the April Newsletter of this year Council provided information to residents to assist those who were still unable to receive digital SBS after Tasmania changed from analogue to digital broadcasting on 9 April, 2013. The following instructions are provided to check if the SBS reception is working:
Log on to www.digitalready.gov.au and click on “Reception”, this will direct you to some options of how you can check to see whether it is a simple fix – like a new antenna or if you are in an area where reception is either poor or not accessible – click on mySwitch . If the mySwitch Coverage Summary indicates that you have “No Coverage” or “No Transmitter” available in your broadcast licence area then you may be eligible to apply for out-of-area access for the commercial services on VAST.
If after following the above steps you are still unable to receive SBS transmission, could you please send an email to Council using the email address [email protected] or provide a written submission to PO Box 21, St Helens, providing your name and address and the steps that you have taken to try and access SBS. If Council receives enough feedback from people who are unable to access SBS, the information collected will be used to seek external funding to install
another SBS tower to improve the coverage.
