Ranch Camp by Mrs. French

A good time was had by all who went to Ranch Camp this year. I would like to thank the parents (Dave Twitchell, Stacy Lorenz, Keith Biletski, Lisa Markovich, Julie Gaalaas) that volunteered their time to come along and help chaperone. Because of their commitment the grade 5’s, Ranch Camp experience was a fu n filled time. It was also greatly appreciated that our parents found their inner child and participated wholly in the activities and games, right alongside the students.

Note from Mrs. Sommer: • To Mrs. Macahonic and Mr. Walsh for

the many hours they spent organizing and planning for Ranch Camp.

• To Mrs. French, Mrs. Vikse, Mr. Wilson and Mr. Skretting accompanying the Grade 5’s.

• To the entire staff who were flexible with schedules and as always, stepped up when & where needed.

We are very fortunate to work with such a wonderfully supportive and cooperative bunch. Last Student Day – Tuesday, June 28, 2011

The last day of the school year for students is Tuesday, June 28th. Students will be involved in our annual Sports Day. In addition, awards will presented to students. At 2:15 pm we will begin our year-end Celebration of Learning assembly. This celebration, a multi-media presentation celebrating the school year, is open to the

public. Following the assembly, students will return to their homeroom and just prior to dismissal at 3:00 pm they will be given their report card.

Report cards cannot be given out earlier. If a student is not in attendance to pick up their report card, a self-addressed,

stamped envelope must be given to the homeroom teacher who will see that the report is mailed the following day. The envelope MUST be no smaller than 8 ½ x 11” and have two stamps! Report cards not picked up, or for which a self-addressed, stamped envelope has not been provided, may be picked up at the school office on Wednesday, June 29th or Wednesday, August 24th.

Sailing Through the Summer

Please see our bulletin board in the school foyer for programs offered throughout the summer.

Staffing for 2011-2012 by Mrs. Sommer

While we expect a bit of difference in staffing each school year, next year will bring significant changes to Jack Stuart School. Sadly, we will be saying farewell to Mrs. Odegard, Mrs. McLennan, and Mrs. Hartman who are retiring at the end of June. As well, Mrs. Thompson who has been part time with us this year and part time with BRSD as Early Literacy lead teacher will be full time with the literacy position. All four of these ladies will be missed at Jack Stuart School. Their contributions to the outstanding culture of the school and the academic wellbeing of students will remain as powerful legacies.

Mrs. Broekhuizen who came on staff to cover Mrs. Galenza’s maternity leave will be leaving on her own maternity leave. In addition Mrs. Radchenko will begin her maternity leave.

New faces in the fall include Mrs. Atema in Kindergarten, Miss Knull in the ELC room, Mrs. McKenzie in Grade 3 and Miss

Maisonneuve who will be teaching French. Mrs. Mitchell, who previously taught at Jack Stuart in Grade 4 and Grade 6, comes back to teach Grade 5. Mrs. Mitchell is currently on maternity leave and will return in December. The teacher who will cover that mat leave has yet to be determined. Mrs. Galenza and Mrs. Kell return from their mat leaves in January. Mrs. Harty will remain on staff to cover for Mrs. Galenza, but Mrs. Kell’s replacement has yet to be determined.

All in all, we are anticipating a fabulous year with a different look. The Voice by Joy-Anne Murphy, Director
