TAMMANY MISSION June, 2009 WE ARE MOVING TO THE NORTH SHORE!! Well, we’ve been here in New Orleans for about a year, and it’s now time to move to the other side of the Lake (06/27/09). We are beginning to see the little sprouting of a new church on the Northshore, and have already had an impact in the community. We have been blessed to work with Lane & Heather Corley, as well as the team that God is putting together (see photo on p.2). Together we are planting a church in West St. Tammany Parish, just over the lake from New Orleans. Planting this church is not the end goal, but the beginning. We hope to be apart of a church planting movement, planting the Gospel on both sides of the Lake. So we will need allot of help. Please ask the Lord how He would have you assist us! PLEASE PRAY FOR THE PEOPLE OF S.E. LOUISIANA SO, WHERE ARE WE NOW? Currently we are continuing to build the team to launch The Bridge Church. We’ve already begun ministering in the community and have been holding monthly worship gatherings. We have much more planned for the Summer, including block-parties, direct evangelism, and our official launch on August 16 th . Please keep us in your prayers as we embark on this challenging and difficult endeavor, starting a new church from scratch. St. Tammany Parish has been one of the fastest growing areas in the state of Louisiana, and since Katrina, the population grew from 220,000 to 270,000. Along with the growth in population, there are other key indicators that point us to the need for new churches in the area. While St. Tammany enjoys one of the lowest overall crime rates in the state of Louisiana, following Hurricane Katrina, instances of drug and alcohol addiction, domestic violence, and suicide are on the rise. Volunteers of America reports that the suicide rate in the Parish has increased at least 48% in the last three years. Parish officials report that in 2007, domestic disturbance calls doubled and suicide completions increased 257% in West St. Tammany. We need more churches focused on transforming lives and the community through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. THE BRIDGE CHURCHAKA, WEST ST. TAMMANY MISSION

June, 2009

WE ARE MOVING TO THE NORTH SHORE!! Well, we’ve been here in New Orleans for about a year, and it’s now time to move to the other side of the Lake (06/27/09). We are beginning to see the little sprouting of a new church on the Northshore, and have already had an impact in the community. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE PEOPLE OF S.E. LOUISIANA

SO, WHERE ARE WE NOW?Currently we are continuing to build the

team to launch The Bridge Church. We’ve already begun ministering in the community and have been holding monthly worship gatherings. We have much more planned for the Summer, including block-parties, direct evangelism, and our official launch on August 16th.

SIX STEPS TO CHURCH PLANTINGHow do you start a church from scratch? For our mission of planting a new church for West St. Tammany Parish we’ve outlined six steps, and two are already complete!

• A Sponsor/Mother Church with a Vision for Evangelism & Off-Campus Multiplication. Bedico Baptist has committed to sponsor and is sending out members to be a part of the Bridge Church team.

• A God-Called Church Planter/Pastor. In Oct 2008, Lane & Heather Corley joined the effort and began recruiting for the team.

• Cultivating the Field & Building the Team. We have been working to meet needs and grow a launch team for the past 9 months.

• Launching Public Worship Services. In August 2009, we will begin weekly worship gatherings.

• Building Church Life. Developing ministries that will transform our community, assimilate & disciple new members, & develop leaders for extended fruitfulness.

• A Vision for Evangelism & Off-Campus Multiplication. Began preparing to repeat the process & multiply a healthy, evangelistic church in a neighboring community in need of the Gospel. How to Pray for Missionaries:

PRAY FOR OPEN DOORS “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains” (Colossians 4:2–3, NIV). PRAY FOR BOLDNESS IN WITNESS “Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel" (Ephesians 6:19, NIV). PRAY THAT GOD’S WORD WILL SPREAD “Finally, dear brothers and sisters, I ask you to pray for us. Pray first that the Lord’s message will spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes.…” (2 Thessalonians 3:1, NLT) PRAY FOR PROTECTION “Pray, too, that we will be saved from wicked and evil people, for not everyone believes in the Lord” (2 Thessalonians 3:2, NLT).

PRAY FOR OUR MINISTRY HERE“Pray first that the Lord's message will spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes. . .” (2 Thesslaonians 3:1, NLT) PRAY FOR GOD’S GUIDANCE “So we have continued praying for you ever since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you a complete understanding of what He wants to do in your lives, and we ask Him to make you wise with spiritual wisdom” (Colossians 1:9, NLT). PRAY FOR REFRESHMENT “We also pray that you will be strengthened with His glorious power so that you will have all the patience and endurance you need. May you be filled with joy” (Colossians 1:11, NLT). PRAY FOR US TOO!!Jim, Tricia, Gabrielle, Hannah, James, Matthew, and Sarah.

• We are moving next week (related expenses)

• Vehicle issues (van on last leg)

• Pray that we will be able to connect with people in the community, and start a home Bible study ASAP

• Pray that God plants this church, unless He builds it, we all work in vain!
