District Judge Robert L. Ford, addressing a stand- ing-room-only crowd in his Leetsdale courtroom, said “that makes it interesting” when Lawrence Mitchell of the Allegheny County district attorney’s office informed him of the girl’s situation. Ford, saying it was in- appropriate for a minor to testify without the pres- ence of a guardian, then continued the hearing of Richard McCracken, 28, of 105 Crestview Village, Ambridge, until June 12. McCracken was charged June 22 with two counts of rape and one count each of unlawful contact with a minor, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and corrup- tion of minors, according to a criminal complaint filed by Allegheny County detectives.
