Happy July Salina Country Club,
July is always and exciting month for SCC. We are in FULL
summer mode with events, junior sports, pool activities, and
more! Thank you for your support through the holiday weekend
and with our adjustments. We will be evaluating our procedures
weekly and will continue to update you with any changes.
As we go through July, we will continue to be proactive on any
health and sanitation practices we feel needed to ensure the
safety of our members and staff. A HUGE thank you to our local physicians and health
administrators as they have been a valuable resource during these times as we try to make
SCC an enjoyable atmosphere with a cautious approach. We appreciate your
understanding on these matters as we understand some of these tasks can be challenging,
but thank you for helping us help you!
We are thrilled to finally say our main dining room ceiling project is complete. Through a 30
day window, we were able to modernize the space by scrapping the existing popcorn
ceiling off and repaint to cover old seams and stains from the past. We plan to paint the
beams and trim during the off season to further enhance the space. As large events have
been minimal over the last couple months, we felt that this was a great opportunity to tend
to some much needed construction.
Have you seen the water feature at the kiddie pool? Hats off to Robert in the maintenance
team for finding an innovative way to add this for our young ones! One of the highlights of
the day, is watching the sprayer get switched on and watching the little ones rush to the
fountain to play in the water. Make sure you keep an eye out for it!
Again, we will keep you updated with any changes in our operations. Your feedback is
always greatly appreciate so please don't hesitate to reach out!
Best regards,
Chris Nickell

July is packed with fun golf activities for all ages. The
month begins with our annual Flag Day celebrations.
On Saturday July 4th we will be doing our annual Flag
Day tournament. Tee times to participate in the event
are available until 2:00 p.m. however the golf course
and carts are available all day.
SCC Leagues and Junior Golf will run full steam ahead
through July, added with a variety of other fun golf
events for everyone. This year is the 2nd Annual
Stampede. The Stampede is a 2 day, 2-person
Scramble tournament, which includes, 4 meals, $75 in
SCC Pro Shop credit before play starts, hole contests,
and many more fun activities. Spots are still available
so call the Pro Shop for more information.
The SCC Summer Junior Golf program continues on Wednesday mornings in July, as
well as the SCC Junior Sports on Wednesdays and Thursdays each week.
The Men and Women’s Club Championship qualifying rounds are in full swing. Both
men and women will have until July 31st to complete their four (4) qualifying
rounds. If you do not know how many rounds you have completed please do not
hesitate to ask the Pro Shop and they will be able to help
you. These 4 rounds will be combined together to both flight
and seed you within your flight. Quarterfinals and semifinals will
both be played on Saturday August 15th for men and women
and the finals will be held on Sunday August 16th. Just a
reminder, all flights are match play. Men’s Flights are gross
match play and the women have a net flight.
Please call the Pro Shop for more information and sign up for
any of these events.
We hope to see you on the Golf Course!

This year has been an interesting year with
everything and dealing with the golf course. We
have had some pretty good weather even though
as I am writing this article the high temperature is
well in the 90s. The course has seen some changes
with the sod projects finally completed. The sod is
doing well and I am pleased with how #16 turned
out with the new drainage and the aesthetics of
the hole. The conditions of the course are good for
the most part, yes, there are still some areas on the
greens that need addressed but due to the high
temperatures we have had to put that on hold until
we get a break from the weather. This is the time in the year when we have to
add extra water to certain areas either with hoses on the greens or by using
the overhead sprinklers to ensure the problem areas make it through the
day. This extra water is normally done in the morn-
ing hours, but sometime we have to drag hoses
on the greens in the afternoon. The goal is to get
the areas watered and get off the green as fast
as possible, so please be patient and allow us to
finish before hitting on the green. We try to not
disrupt play, however, in some instances we have
no choice, I appreciate your understanding. I
hope everyone comes out and enjoys the golf
course and remembers that this time of year we
want you to drive in the fairways and limit driving
in the rough. The fairways love this warm weather,
and the cool-season rough not so much. Thank
you and have a great time at the Salina Country
Club.
