What Does It MeanTo YouTo Have A

    Gospel Rescue MissionIn Your Town?

I t should mean that you know that, if they want it, the homeless, the poor, and theneedy people of our city will have a place tohave their needs met in a time of crisis intheir life, in a Christ friendly atmosphere, with a staff that really do care about theindividual person. And YOU can have apart in meeting those needs!

Sometimes I wonder if the people of this town even know that we are here. I

have been here almost fifteen years. Mostof my time has been spent in public relationspresenting our program to churches andbusinesses. You know, I have people almostdaily tell me that they did not know theMission existed or that there was a place likeours in the city.

We are here to help those we can; however,if people do not know about us, we can notprovide help to them. We want to make adifference and we believe that difference isJesus Christ. This is what a GospelRescue Mission is all about. We meetphysical needs so that we may have theopportunity to meet the spiritual needs of those that come to us for help!

Best Kept Secret in Town Someone hassaid that, the Mission was the best kept

secret in town. Of course they werereferring to all of the services we provide tothose in need without ever a charge toanyone.

Safe Shelter is Provided Shelter is provided for men and womenin a clean, warm safe Christian environment. We serve very good, hot nutritional meals toanyone that is here at meal time (you shouldsee the crowd in the dining room arounddinner time). Clothing, showers andspiritual counseling are given freely. Wehave Chapel service every night where theGospel of Jesus Christ is preached and thosein attendance are given the opportunity to

make a profession of faith and receive Christas their Savior.

A Long Term Drug and AlcoholRecovery ProgramThat Works

Besides meeting basic needs we have aDrug and Alcohol Program that works, because it is Christ centered. It is based onChristian principles and morals. Victory ispossible. Those that complete the programclaim II Corinthians 5:17 as their theme,Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is anew creation. Old things are passed away, and behold all things are become new ....

All of this is possible because of thosethat do know about us and what we mean tothe city. God uses them to provide the needsof the Mission.

Spread the WordSo, help us spread the word about the Missionand what we do for those in need for the Glory

and Honor of our Lord Jesus Christ!

NewLifeProgram Notesknow nothingexcept JesusChrist, and Him crucified.

Here at NewLife our goal is the rescueand rehabilitation of the whole man. In avery real sense we are not just giving a mana fish but are teaching him to fish.

We begin our concern with the mansphysical wellbeing: good health andhygiene. We also provide counseling forgood mental and emotional health.

David Williams is our Learning CenterAdministrator, providing key skills to helpour men have more to offer as employeesonce they leave. In the LC we make sureeach man has the computer skills needed fortodays job market. If a man did notcomplete High School we upgrade hisacademic skills to get his GED. We alsoteach each man the essentials of moneymanagement so he can steward his moneywell.

All of these changes can be quite scary forour men. At the beginning point they mustaccept the fact of their deficiencies.

In my experience there is only one thing thatwill empower a man to look honestly insidehimself and say what he sees accurately; thatone thing is the cross of Jesus Christ. Thedeath and resurrection of Jesus is the centraltruth from which NewLife grows. I haveseen men overcome great obstacles byknowing Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. InHim is a love so powerful that it breaksstrongholds and provides courage forNewLife.

    Serving Him with your help,

    Pastor Aaron

A Note of Thanks! I am taking this opportunity to thank youfolks for responding to our needs mentionedin the May newsletter. You really did meeta great need here at the Mission. However, itis a long way to the end of summer and westill need your help with the things listed onthe back of this newsletter.

The Simple Joys They miss so much who do not know

The simple joys of long ago. When life was lived with ease of pace And thankful hearts said table grace.

When folks took time to be a friend, A helping hand so quick to lend.

When houses had a front porch swing,(Oh how we loved that creaky thing!)

On summer evenings friends would call And they were welcomed one and all,

And Mom would serve homemade ice cream As laughter from the porch would stream.

And vendors came to sell their wares; The fun filled trips to country fair,The concert at the old bandstand When music was so very grand!

They miss so much who never knew

Old fashion joys such as I do.The village church so gleaming white, Its steeple bells that rang each night,

The solace that we all found there As we met for a time of prayer.

Our values were quite different then,Oh, time cant I go back again.

    We were not rich in days of yore, But we had blessings by the score;

Our wealth was found in many things

From which the souls contentment springs. Our homes were filled with so much love,

Deep faith was ours in God above.

How much they miss who did not knowThe lovely joys of long ago.

I wish that they could share with me My pleasant memory

Back to the good old-fashioned daysWhen life was lived in simple ways!

Memories: We cannot relive and we cannever go back to things like we rememberthembut, you folks of my age dont youwish we could. As we think back to a timewhen things were a lot slower and relaxed, people were not is such a hurry and wecould enjoy having company and sharingour feelings with each other.

    Just reminiscing. Bro. Don

DIRECTORS July 4, 1776 Birthday DESK Of Our NationDon Bettis One Nation Under God

I am going to take this space and ask you some questions. I donot want an answer. But I would like you to answer them for yourself!

Are we one Nation under God as it was and was meant to be in the beginning?

Is America a Christian nation? How can you tell?

Are Christians of all denomination in the majority in our country? How can you tell?

What happens when a Christians civil or human rights are violated?

Who will come to the defense of a Christian?

Why is it wrong for a student to carry a Bible or talk about Christ on campus?

Why are other religions approved and forced curriculum but Christianity is forbidden?

Why is abortion an approved way of life when the Bible plainly states, thou shalt not kill.

Why is same sex marriage approved when the Bible plainly teaches marriage is between aman and a woman?

WHY? WHY? WHY? I could go on and on but I ask you again, are we a Christian Nation?

You ask what can I do. Well, I agree there is not much one person can do. But what if webanned together and PRAYED and called down the power of God on the leaders of our

Nation and all the people in general and ask for His help to lead us back to the principles onwhich this country was founded.

But, you knowwith all of its flaws I had rather be here in America than any other place inthe world.A Promise: Then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; And you shall be

MY people, and I will be your God. Ezekiel 36:28
