The United Way of Green County is uniquely positioned to understand the comprehensive needs of our entire community. We know that right here in our communities, there are families without enough food to eat. We know people who are struggling to keep their homes. We know people who are worried because they can't pay their bills. We know that health care workers are scared but continue to work tirelessly to keep us safe. We know that people are lonely and feeling the impact of social isolation. It is because we know these people and care about them deeply that we knew we needed to do something to help. That is why the United Way of Green County COVID-19 Community Response Fund was formed. It was designed to address the needs of our community that have developed as a result of the pandemic in Green County, to provide resources to organizations in Green County who are working to serve those impacted by COVID-19, and to address the economic consequences of this out-break in the most efficient and comprehensive way possible. United Way of Green County is pleased to announce the following agencies have been provided funding through the COVID-19 Community Response Fund:

• Salvation Army to provide emergency shelter, rent and utility assistance to the people who need it most • Rainbow Childcare to provide one month’s worth of food to the center • Family Promise to help people new to their homes be able to stay in their homes • Men’s Resource Center to help with their transitional housing program • Reach Green to help support critically important early childhood services • Backpack Buddies program to help provide food to families • Orion family services so that they can continue to reach and serve the most vul-nerable.

Multi-cultural outreach program to provide support for families directly affected by COVID-19 related furloughs or COVID-19 infections

In the last umpteen years Kiwanis members have supported their team of Bowlers in this event. Our team is Jeff Ingebritsen, Dennis Dreikosen, Alan Hanusa, Randy Iverson, Hans Bernet (member at large), Andy Sefcik, and myself. We always allow the current Kiwanis President to join our team for this event so Patrick is also a member. You can send anyone of us money via snail mail) to sponsor us and support BB/BS in Green Coun-ty. Or you can do the virtual donation by going to www.bbbsgreencoiunty.org/bfks. When you get to the website it will popup and ask you to donate. Note: if you donate using the website please indicate that you are sponsoring a Kiwanis Bowler (hopefully our team has all regis-tered) at least one bowler has registered as a team member so far. Second note: if you donate on line there is a fee that someone gets other than BB/BS so it might be more cost effective to send money to one of us or the Shannon at BB/BS. Our team goal is $1,500 and so far we are at $200, and we are in the lead of all registered teams. The event is on going until July 30th, don’t waits donate today. THANKS Reid Stangel PS Even in a virtual bowl contest, Andy and I will battle for last place on our team.
