Dear Parishioners,
We are in the process of installing a handicapped accessible entrance to the Church. We have been waiting for parts to come in, and they have be- gan this process on Friday. This has been the story for many people in various lines of work. Since the pandemic began, its effects on businesses has been widespread, and its effects are still lingering with materials and products not available, and there are so many job openings that are not being filled. This is frustrating to many and is trying peoples patience. This is also a good reminder that we need to trust in God. Keeping working, doing what we need to do, and trust that God will provide in the proper time. Isn’t that the statement about the birth of Jesus? Doesn’t it say, that in the fullness of time, he was born, which means at the proper time, when God knew it would be most benefi- cial. He is doing the same now so, we need to persevere and trust in the God.
I heard from a wise spiritual director the advice that we should not be “ODD”. This is an acronym that reminds us not to be, overwhelmed, distressed or discouraged. Jesus reminded us that part of being a disciple is to carry the cross. There will always be difficulties, but we trust in God, as He will always provide.
I heard a story recently that emphasizes this point. A farmer had a neighbor that was nosey. The farmer’s son had a horse that he loved and one day the horse ran off. The neighbor came over and said, “that is too bad”. The farmer said, “we will see if it is good or bad”. A few days later, the horse re- turned with 7 more horses. The story goes on with events and the neighbor makes an immediate judgement on whether it is good or bad. The wise farmer says let us wait and see. He is patient and is aware that everything goes ac- cording to God’s plan, and even those things that seem to be bad bring abun- dant blessings. This is a good way to avoid being “ODD”. God Bless you.
Msgr. Tucker
