The meeting opened at 7:30 p.m. with a prayer led by Father Travers.

A discussion followed regarding security in the church complex. All of the clergy on Staten Island attended a meeting with the Chief of Police, the Community Affairs Officer, the Borough President and Councilwoman Debi Rose; the meeting was concerning security in and around all churches due to the recent issues pertaining to worship spaces. The School security has been increased at a cost of $20,000. New systems are now in place and have been implemented. The need for dili-gence by all groups who are using any area of the church is paramount. The addition of cameras being added to the ado-ration chapel and the gift shop are being considered. Each group should provide a list of precautions they have taken to provide adequate security at their meeting [confer July 3 Bulletin Page 5 - Editor].

Father Travers discussed a five year Capital Campaign, “Renew and Rebuild” which is being implemented by the Archdio-cese. Our parish will be included in Block 1; it will begin in September 2016. The first part of the 5 year pledge will go di-rectly to the Cardinal’s Appeal in 2017, 74% of the monies collected will return to the parish, with 26% going to the Arch-diocese. Capital improvements to our parish may include a new water tank, a new cooling system, and a new sound sys-tem. In 2018 the Cardinal’s Appeal will kick in again. At this time the cost of cleaning the existing cooling system is $5000 per year. Father Travers introduced Deacon James Gallagher who will now be assigned to our parish. He would like to be addressed as Deacon Jim; his duties will encompass many areas such as, training of Eucharistic ministers, as well as the day to day management of the parish. It is not clear as to where James Quadrino will be assigned after his ordination in two weeks [He has been subsequently assigned to Holy Child - Editor]. The Family Fun Fair will be held on September 24, 2016 with a rain date of October 1, 2016. The question was asked as to whether there can be casino gambling at it. This will be investigated. Father Ed would like to stage a play sometime in February, details to follow.

There will be a Flea Market in September - more to follow, and a blood drive is being planned for January or February.

Parish Manager: Please be mindful of bulletin announcement deadlines. Parish calendars will be distributed soon.
