Collagraph masterclass: Colour viscosity

A unique method of creating multicoloured prints using just one plate at a time. Bring your old or new collagraph and embossed plates to life with this fun fine-art technique. Sound Gallery Studios provide a range of music technology courses, work experience programmes and professional development, aimed at providing participants with the skills needed to create their own music and gain experience in a professional recording studio. We have carefully designed courses and workshops which go beyond the nuts and bolts of software education and aim to inspire you to create, record and produce your own music.

Our courses are run by experienced and qualified tutors, sound engineers and producers. Whether you are a beginner or have advanced knowledge of music production our courses will help you take your music to the next level. We also runmasterclasses during the year in association with the Analogue to Digital Expo and our educational partners: Time + Space, Integrity Records and Super Audio Mastering.

All courses take place at Sound Gallery Studios and Phoenix Digital.

Course delivery

Sound Gallery courses are run in the Exeter Phoenix Media centre and are taught on iMac computers. Certain course content is taught at Sound Gallery Studios. Sessions are delivered in small flexible groups allowing more individual in-teraction between participants and tutors. If there are further areas outside the course content you would like to explore do not hesitate to contact us as courses can be tailored to suit individual needs.

All computers are fully stocked with a range of audio and imaging software for all multi-media needs. sound gallery studios Facilities

Sound Gallery Studios is a professional, purpose built, acoustically treated and fully air- conditioned recording studio situated in the basement complex at Exeter Phoenix in the cultural heart of Exeter in Devon. The studio complex is well equipped with a range of classic analogue mics, pristine valve pre-amps and both soft and analogue synths (including the legendary Neumann U47, Prism Sound Mase-lec MMA-4XR, 1” tape machine, Juno 6 etc) alongside the best in digital effects processors, soft synths and plug-ins.We offer a wide range of integrated recording solutions, based around an Apple Mac Pro, Pro Tools and Logic Pro system with clean and high end AD/DA conversion and clocking from the SSL (Solid State Logic) Alphalink and Prism Sound Orpheus.

membership scheme

An annual membership fee of £75 allows access to the Sound Gallery computers in the Digital on Mondays and Fridays. This membership provides an opportunity forpartic-ipants to spend time working on their skills and techniques they have learnt from the courses. Participants who have enrolled on one of our courses are entitled to FREE mem-bership (Term time only, 2 hours per week, Mondays or Fridays).

spin City pole Fitness Class (intermediate level 3)

This class we will work on some more advanced spins and poses & some different climbing styles on the pole. Alongside this you will build from your basic invert learnt in level 2 to get become comfortable with a wide range of inverted leg grips, basic inverted combinations and a series of safe dismounts. This level will also progress the various seated positions on the pole taking you onto cross knee and cross ankle releases and moves from these positions. This level will also help you learn how to link moves together using combinations and transition moves to flow from one move to another.

Our mixed ability classes are perfect if you want to develop your pole skills at your own pace. Suitable for complete beginners right the way through to advanced. In this class you will be divided onto poles to work with students of a similar ability learning new moves, tricks and transitions every week. If you want to progress quickly then this is a great class to go to alongside your level class, and this class is also a great option for those who have done pole before but don’t know which level is best for them.

This class is for those that have learned some basic spins, transitions and are comfortable with the first step of their climb. This class will cover a variety of new spins as well as some more advanced techniques, introducing some different hand grips and spin combinations. We will also work through various seated poses on the pole and strength moves including an introduction flags! In this level you will get your very first taste of going upside down in a basic inverted position, in preparation for Intermediate.

spin City pole Fitness Class (advanced 2 – level 5)

This class will focus on more advanced inverted positions including arms only grips, progressions from your shouldermount and more difficult combinations. At this level you will be expected to carry out high level drills to push your strength and flexibility to the next level. You will be expected to lift all inverts at this stage. In each level 5 class we will start with a series of drills to help with your strength and stability and will then focus on a specific move or set of moves, with different ways in and out of each. We will also include progressions and combinations from one move to another.

This class will focus on more advanced inverted positions including shoulder mounts, strength and stability preparation for arms only moves and supermen to name a few. In each level 4 class we will start with a series of drills to help with your strength and stability and will then focus on a specific move or set of moves, with different ways in and out of each. We will also include progressions and combinations from one move to another. In our advanced levels it is more important than ever that learning is not just about being able to do the move but to be able to do it well! This will be crucial for many of the combinations in this level.

Are you new to pole dance or never tried it before? Well, this is the class for you! Level 1 is designed for complete beginners so don’t worry if your not super strong, flexible or well co-ordinated as these are skills you will build up through these classes. You will learn some basic spins and transitions as well as climbing the pole, we will also build on trying to do some of these spins on your weaker hand and even one handed! Don’t forget we run free taster sessions on the last Friday of every month so what are you waiting for.

This is perfect for those starting out or those looking for the next pole challenge.

Have you ever wished you were that little bit stronger, or wanted a little more abdominal or upper body strength? Well if so this is the class for you! Focusing on arms and abdominals this class will help you to build the strength you need to master that demon move you have been working on! Our expert instructors will coach and encourage you through a series of conditioning exercises on the pole to help you on your way to a new you. Conditioning classes are suitable for all levels.

Are you completely new to Pole Fitness? Then why not come along to a Spin City Taster Session and find out what we are all about! The induction is a 60-minute taster class that will give you the chance to have a go on the poles and learn some fantastic tricks designed for complete beginners! If you have done pole before elsewhere then don’t worry this will be the perfect opportunity to find out where we can fit you into our fantastic leveling system. For the Spin City Induction try to arrive 5 minutes early as we have a short disclaimer we will need you to fill out. You will need to wear comfy gym kit - shorts can help you grip the pole and please try not to moisturise the day of the class.
