History of the PML and OS/eCAL

• The original PML and OS/eCAL agreements were created in 2006• It was the first Provincial Framework Agreement in Canada

– Set the stage for other Provinces and countries around the world– First user-based agreement of its kind for K-12

• Licensing was moved to an FTE count from a device model

Additional Microsoft Discussions• The agreement is no longer just about licensing• There are now five components to the agreement that we are

discussing with Microsoft• Questions to consider:

– Are the programs we’re looking at relevant? – How can it be implemented in your school? – What are we missing? – How can we further add additional efficiencies?

What are the “Must Haves” and the “Nice to Have” Options? • Each table has a piece of paper with the different options available

for the next licensing agreement• Mark an “X” beside options that you consider a “Must Have” and are

non-negotiable• For the remaining items, mark by priority what you feel is a “Nice to

Have” option– Start with #1, then go on to options that are less of a priority

What the Focus Group Said• Everything that’s included with the current agreement is a “Must

Have” and non-negotiable• Office 365 Plan A3 is a “Like to Have”, but may not be for some

jurisdictions who have Google Docs• There is value in having a Provincial licensing agreement as it:

– Develops consistencies and standards– Gives smaller districts an opportunity that they may not have been able to

afford before– Any licensing option that lessens the burden, financially and

administratively, is a good thing• Student licensing is a priority (BYOD)• Jurisdictions need a clearer deployment model
