boys and 131 of girl felt beingneglected. Therefore, there is asignificant difference found among

respondents with the opinion of beingcared or neglected with respect totheir gender and geographicallocation. Table 2 tells us thedevelopmental dimensions seenamong respondents with respect totheir opinion about being cared for or disregarded. Respondentscategorised under the opinion of feeling cared for had significantlyscored very good developmentaldimensions as compared with therespondents belonging to the groupfeeling neglected. Table 3 shows thatmajority of the respondents (88%)belong to the group that feels beingneglected had significantly scoredlower level of coping skills comparedwith the other group. Theadolescents with the status of being

cared for differ significantly withrespect to their coping skills (t=-3.303, p<0.05) at 0.05% level of

significance. Therefore, it is clear thatthe status of an adolescent either being cared for/ nurtured of neglectedmay have its own implications on their development.

Conclusion:Neglect is a notoriously complex

and depressing issue to deal withandas these needs are often varied andinterconnected, an effective inter-agency response is crucial. Aninsufficiently patched-up approach inservice provision may lead to asystem failure.

Ultimately, due to related costs topublic entities such as the healthcare, human services, andeducational systems, abuse andneglect impact not just the child andfamily, but society as a whole.
