NSS REPORT FOR THE PERIOD 1st May TO31 Oct 2018

• The academic year 2018-2019 for the college students started on 01st July2018,

100+50=150 students were enrolled as NSS volunteers for the present academic

year for Unit1 and Unit2 respectively on 21thJuly, 2018.

• A seminar on “PLASTICS:BENEFITS& EFFECTS” was conducted in our

collage on 28th July, 2018 as part of the SWACHHTA PAKHWARA programme

initiated by central government.

The topic was presented by Prof. K.S. LOKESH, RegistrarJSS Science &

Technology UniversityMysuru, who is specialized in technology and society

interface work. His talk is directed towardsecological and environmental foot

prints, orgin, charcteristics& types of plastics, benefits of plastics, applicational

areas of plastics, facts about plastics, plastic pollution and its harmful effects, role

of individual in reducing plastic menace.

An oath was taken by staffs and students of the collage regarding

SWACHHTA PAKHWARA programme.

• On18-08-2018, a visit was organized to the NSS units to the village Kamarahalli,

Awareness was created on cleanliness, hygiene, tree plantations and

plastics:benefits & effects and also given awareness to school children. A rally

was conducted by the NSS volunteers by holding appropriate placards.

Cleaning Streets activity was held in the village and discussions were made

with gram panchayat members regarding facilities which are available.

• On 22-09-2018 Swami Vivekanand delivered a powerful speech in Chicago,introducing

Hinduism to the world. Swami Vivekananda’s 125thyears famous Chicago speech was

celebrated by showing small video clips and quotes by Swami Vivekananda.

• On 29-09-2018, K C Ayappa commanding officers 3 kar girls BN Mysuru had

given the lecture on importance of surgical strike day and Boarder security force

its meaning. A rally was conducted by the NSS and NCC team.

• On 04-10-2018, Prof. Dr. RAVEESH. B.N, Professor & Head, Department of

Psychiatry, Mysore Medical College & Research Institute, Mysore had given the

lecture on“DRUG ABUSE”for all final year students and staffs. He stated the

importance and effect of using tobacco, alcohol, illegal and prescription

drugduring adolescence and young adulthood.

• On 06-09-2018 and 22-09-2018, Kum. Sushma, Dept. of Youth Welfare & Sports

had given “Life skills training” for all NSS, NCC volunteers and also given brief

details about this event to the students in the few class rooms and labs.
