Operation Breakthrough began in 1971 when a group of working-poor parents in the central city voiced their need for child care to Sister Corita Bussanmas and Sister Berta Sailer. Together, they incorporated Operation Breakthrough as a not-for-profit agency.

Operation Breakthrough is the largest single-site early education child care and social services facility in the state of Missouri serving over 400 children daily from the urban core.

The mission of Operation Breakthrough is to help children who are living in poverty develop to their fullest potential by providing them a safe, loving and educational environment.

Operation Breakthrough also strives to support and empower the children's families through advocacy, referral services and emergency aid.

WHAT WE DID JPMorgan Retirement Plan Services hosted 2 classes

from Operation Breakthrough for a

Halloween carnival and trick-or-treat

extravaganza. 

WHAT WE DID

JPMorgan hosts a few events with Operation Breakthrough

throughout the year to help get the kids out and about. We want

to give the kids (and some parents) the opportunity to see what life is like outside of the surrounding areas they are so

familiar with. 

Our employees really enjoy hosting the kids and

their families for fun events, sponsoring gift

drives around the holidays and generally just helping

out such well-deserved organization.

with Operation Breakthrough and we plan

to continue that relationship in the future. 

Anytime Operation Breakthrough is in need of

something, JPMorgan employees are always

quick to step up and help out where needed. 

WHAT WOULD OPERATION BREAKTHROUGH DO WITH THE GRANT

IF THEY WON IT?

It would allow Operation Breakthrough to continue serving homeless children and other children who are most in need, by providing them a full day of care and education every weekday, plus nutritious meals, dental and health care, speech and occupational therapy, mental health programming and family supports, such as housing and job search assistance for parents and aid from their food pantry, clothing closet, etc.
