Joy In Our Town

This month's Joy in Our Town programs featured Pastor Keola Richards hostingshows with Pastor Matt Walton of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Hawaii, Pastor Jerry Saludez from Waipio Community Baptist Church & The Seafarers Ministry, Brady Giusta from Young Life Oahu, and Former Lt. Governor Duke Aiona representing Hawaii Family Advocates.

We also featured Athena Sorensen hosting El Ranon of PS150 homeless ministry, Angela Tomiye of Prayer Box, Daniel Ko and Johanna Gorospe of Youth For Christ, and author Christy Pierce and Pastor Nick Love of Anchor Church. Topics included ministry opportunities and clubs for children from elementary through high school; Bible studies and outreach opportunities to the seafarers; honoring and supporting marriages; being Jesus to the homeless; and a very unique ministry of prayer for anonymous prayer requests left in prayer boxes on hiking trails.

– Pastor Allen Cardines, who hosted last month’s Joy in Our Towns, reported that a senior pastor called him after seeing the show he hosted on caring for Hawaii's kupuna (elderly) and those facing end-of-life issues. The senior pastor had no idea of what was going on in our state regarding physician assisted suicide and was moved by the show to get all of his churches involved.

– One of our guests, Pastor Matt Walton of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Hawaii, was contacted by a Maui pastor who saw the show he was on and wanted information and assistance in starting up a club for the children in the public schools in his area. Pastor Matt’s comment on social media: “What a great opportunity to share about CEF of Hawaii on TBN a few weeks ago!”

From Our Guests and Viewers

– One local viewer, Felicidad, dropped by our station to say hello and bless us with baked goods. She thanked us for being on the air and a voice in Hawaii for all. She loves Jesus and she said TBN helps her “to find her way.”

– Nathan visited us to say hello and ask a question about grace. He had seen a street preacher witnessing by preaching fire, brimstone, and condemnation which led him to seek the truth. We equipped him with our last copy of The Power of Right Believing by Pastor Joseph Prince, along with the 50 Days of Grace/Hope journal. He was very grateful to know that Jesus loves him despite the life he has lived. He accepted Jesus into his heart and, with many tears, gave a seed offering of $3.00 (all he had in his pockets). What a remarkable experience, for him and for us.

– Audrey from Charlotte, North Carolina dropped by the station while on vacation to say hello. She was so happy to see TBN in Hawaii and shared she was a prayer partner for TBN years ago. She has never forgotten her experiences in that role because they changed her life.

– Ann called to inquire about air times for Restoring the Shack. She said that she really enjoys the program and looks forward to each episode.

– Lois, a very gracious viewer, blessed us with tea and teaching materials from Kenneth Copeland Ministries. She is so grateful that TBN airs Kenneth Copeland. We donated the books/CDs to a local ministry and have recently learned they are being sent to a state prison here on the island.
