I tried to look bright-eyed and special,

Wagging my tail really fast,

But they’d just look at me and walk away.

My euphoria just couldn’t last.

But now Journey’s End

is like heaven,

Since the day

that I came here to live!

Never hungry or thirsty, just happy

With the love and affection they give.

A life in the woods all by myself

Was hard, ‘specially since I was blind.

Everyone always picked on me--

Not the life I had in mind.

Dr. Priehs fixed my eyes--- I can see now!

He’s become my new very best friend.

I chase balls and watch birds through the windows…

That’s my story, but far from the end!

You see, I am far from “perfect”

Because I walk on my right front knuckle.

But still, running is my specialty,

And I never, ever buckle.

Several people came to see me,

And I thought I would have a home

But again and again, it was not

meant to be…

No cozy house, and no yard to roam.

Then to the rescue came Journey’s End! Shannon’s now my new best friend.

With Barney and Ebenezer, my roommates, this euphoria will never end!

And now, for our Cat House…

But first, thank you so much for your donations that

enabled our new roof, which was so badly needed! It is

beautiful and such a great relief. We’ll never have to worry

about leaks again.

Memorial Garden

The Memorial Garden at Journey’s End Animal

Sanctuary is a beautiful, peaceful place for quiet

contemplation of the animals who have meant so much

to us, and we invite anyone who visits to spend time

there. As a further way to honor or remember loved

ones, both people and animals, we are now offering an

engraved stone that will be placed in the walkway to the

Memorial Garden for a minimum $50 donation. Each

stone is 4” x 8” and will have space for a short

inscription.

Our next big project is the Cat House (where

Florence is famously known as the Madam). The

back half has already been added on and redone,

with cement floors, but the front half is 50 years

old, with termite damage, and some areas of

rotting that must be renovated.

An architect and a retired engineer have

generously offered their services. The front half

of the building must be jacked up and essentially

redone, and the materials and labor will be very

costly. We are waiting for cooler weather

because the cats will all have to live together in

the back half of the Cat House while the work is

being done. While this won’t make some of them

very happy, they will have free access to the

fully enclosed fenced patio with plenty of room

to climb, exercise, and snooze in the sun, as they

wait for the work to be completed on their home.

Any contribution toward this latest mission, to

provide our precious cats with the best possible

living quarters, will be very greatly appreciated.
