2019 Key Events
JIPB Sponsored Conferences
JIPB plays active roles in the plant science community. In 2019, we sponsored the
30th International Conference on Arabidopsis Research (ICAR2019), Wuhan, China
(June16 to 21, 2019); the 9th Asia and Oceania Conference on Photobiology(AOCP),
Qingdao, China (September 21 to 24, 2019); the Chinese National Congress of Plant
Biology in Chengdu, China (October 11 to 14, 2019).
Special Issues: Polyploidy and evolution (Volume 61 Issue 1), Barley and wheat
biology (Volume 61 Issue 3), Seed biology (Volume 61 Issue 5), Maize biology
(Volume 61 Issue 6) and Plant peroxisomes (Volume 61 Issue 7)
In 2019, JIPB has published five Special issues focusing on Polyploidy and evolution,
Barley and wheat biology, Seed biology, Maize biology and Plant peroxisomes.
The Special issue on Polyploidy and evolution was organized by Prof. Yuxian Zhu.
This issue included 1 letter to the editor and 5 research articles. Studies on population
genetics, polyploid evolution, gene duplication, and TE functions in cotton, B. napus
and also in potato, provide a basis for the better utilization of polyploid crop plants.
The issue on Barley and wheat biology was organized by JIPB Editor Prof. Thorsten
Schnurbusch. This issue included 7 reviews, 1 research articles. Prof. Thorsten
Schnurbusch aims to highlight exciting current and future research topics in this
special issue to attract more research in the areas of wheat and barley biology.
The Special issue on Seed biology was organized by JIPB Editor Prof. John Harada.
This issue included 3 reviews, 5 research articles. This special issue covers a range of
topics of critical importance to seed biology. The articles provide new fundamental
information and/or incisive insights into the cellular processes that underlie key
aspects of seed growth and development.
The issue on Maize biology was co-organized by JIPB Editors Profs. Jianbing Yan
and Bao-Cai Tan. This issue included 7 research articles. The organizers pointed out
that the maize functional genomics research in China is flourishing, and new
technologies and fields are endlessly emerging. More knowledge gained from basic
research has been applied to breeding to make due contribution to ensuring food
security.
The Special issue on Plant peroxisomes was organized by JIPB Editor Prof. Jianping
Hu. The four reviews and three research articles in this special issue on plant
peroxisomes provide new insights into the diverse roles and dynamics of these
structurally simple but functionally complicated organelles, raising exciting new
questions for future investigations.
