Dynamic Catholic, Alive! Stewardship & Generosity
Whether young or old, rich or poor, married or not, we are each called to live our lives as true disciples, through conscious stewardship of all our resources. Every gift we’ve been given, every tick of the second-hand on the clock, every dollar we may earn—we can make much—or little—of, depending on how attuned we really are to God’s will for us. If we serve God first, His unfathomable generosity will give increase to all our ef-forts. (CCC 2402-2418) archstl.org/dynamic
There have been several robo scams active in re-cent months which aim to take advantage of
Catholic parishioners. The scammers surf parish websites on the internet and they steal the priest’s name. Then they create fictitious email accounts or use fictitious telephone numbers to send solicitation emails or texts to parishioners of that priest. They also steal the parishioner’s names and contact information from parish websites and parish bulletins which are posted online. The solicitation emails and texts typically pretend to be the priest and they ask the parishioner to purchase gift cards, often gift cards to ITunes, and send them to some person who is supposedly in need and supposedly a personal friend of the priest. The most current one active right now is a texting scam. The number being used this time is 636-202-2319. But they can use any number. Please let the following be absolutely clear: 1) I NEVER use any email address other than [email protected]. 2) I NEVER have and NEVER will ask any parishioner for money for any personal friend of mine in any way, shape or form - not cash, not gift card, not anything. If you ever receive anything like this, it is NOT from me. It is an absolute SCAM. Ignore it. Delete it. Report it to the police if you want. Several priests throughout the Archdio-cese are dealing with the same hassle. We have consulted the Archdiocesan legal counsel who has in turn consulted law en-forcement and, unfortunately, there seems to be little that can be done about it - particularly because so much of it is done by computers in an encrypted way. Scammers are clever and devi-ous people. Do not be taken in by it. This weekend I want to share with you our Annual Catholic Appeal Parish Progress Report which is inserted in this bulletin. Thank you to all who have contributed this year. Let us pray for each other this week. Father Bob Samson

Stewardship Awareness “No servant can serve two masters. He will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (wealth).” Luke 16:13 Is money a “god” that you put before God? Giving money to support the Church and other charity is a pillar of our faith, just like attending Mass every Sunday and participating in parish ministry. Giving money frees us from being a slave to money. It increases our dependence on God and our trust that God will provide all that we need.
