Respect Life Corner

Support When She’s Unexpectedly Expecting – An

unexpected pregnancy can send a woman into crisis

mode.

Learn, Act, Connect, Pray: An unexpected preg-

nancy might be confusing along the way, but life –

though at times difficult – is ultimately beautiful. Not

sure how to help or what to say? Go to the USCCB

website – www.usccb.org (Respect Life Program

2015) to read “10 Ways to Support Her When She’s

Unexpectedly Expecting.” Your support might be the

only support she receives. As we prepare ourselves this

Advent to welcome the Christ Child with renewed

love, let us be mindful of Jesus’ words in Matthew

25:40: “Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one

of the least brothers of mine, you did for me.”

Women’ s Guild

Christmas Potluck

The party begins Tuesday, December 15, at 6:00 pm.

Wear an ugly or pretty Christmas sweater just for fun.

There's no Cookie Walk planned. Bring a dish to feed

10. Don’t miss an evening of good food and good

friends. Please bring baby items unwrapped, cash or

check for Pregnancy Matters.

Retirement Fund for Religious

Religious give thanks. “We cannot begin to repay all

who contribute,” writes a Catholic sister. “So

we pray to God, who is never outdone in gen-

erosity, to reward you.” Heartfelt thanks for

your donation to last week’s collection for the

Retirement Fund for Religious. May God bless

you for your goodness!

Outreach-Secret Santa

It is time to return your Secret Santa gifts. The Out-

reach Committee hopes that you enjoyed this first time

program. The Committee is so grateful for the outpour-

ing of love this parish showed to the children.

The gifts maybe returned the weekends of December

12 and December 19. Do not wrap the gift/gifts that

you purchase. Our wonderful youth will be wrapping

them. We think that the gifts can be put into a clean

trash bag. Put the child’s tag into the bag so they will

stay with the gifts securely. Place them under the tree

in the Greeting area.

Do not feel that you must buy everything on their list.

That is not the purpose of this program. The purpose is

to make sure ALL children enjoy the gifts of the sea-

son. Please pray for these children and their families.

Free APP

Go to Our Sunday Visitor at

www.osv.com and download a FREE

365 Days to Mercy App! It will in-

spire and uplift you all year long with

Pope Francis’ meditations and tweets,

daily special devotionals on mercy,

prayers and a lot more.

Evangelization, Stewardship

& Community Building

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again: re-

joice!” These are the words of St. Paul’s address to the

faith community of Philippi. These words I also wish

to address to you, the faith community of St. Joseph

Church. “Rejoice in the Lord always…” Last Tues-

day, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of

the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Church commenced the

Jubilee Year of Mercy as directed by Pope Francis.

The Holy Door of St. Peter Basilica was open. On this

Gaudate Sunday we open the Holy Door of St. Joseph

Church. (Bishop Edward K. Braxton has designated

St. Joseph Church as one of the churches in the Belle-

ville Diocese as one of the Holy Year churches.)

Whenever you enter through these doors there is an

opportunity to experience special graces.

During this Jubilee Year of Mercy, you and I will have

the opportunity to share in the healing mercy and for-

giveness of the Lord through the Sacrament of Recon-

ciliation, but we also can choose to make this year an

occasion of sharing with others the Corporal and Spiri-

tual Works of Mercy: feed the hungry, give drink to

the thirsty, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, visit

the sick and visit the imprisoned; counsel the doubtful,

instruct the ignorant, admonish sinners, comfort the

afflicted, forgive offenses, bear wrongs patiently and

pray for the living and the dead.
