The editor recently received the following letter (shortened and edited in some parts) from Jonathan.

"I would like to express my deep appreciation to the Coleopterists Society for pre- senting me with the first Youth Incentive Award. Here is a short synopsis of my project.

"Mimicry is one of the most interesting, most important and least studied aspects of the biology of the Cleridae. Numerous species in this family have evolved coloration patterns and body shapes; these resemble to a certain extent other insects species, which may be unpalatable to predators. I am currently compiling a review of all literature dealing with the topic of mimetic clerids to show the widespread occurrence of the phenomenon of mimicry. In addition, I will summarize my personal observations of four Virginia clerids, which may be involved in mimetic relationships.

"With the help of the Youth Incentive Award from the Coleopterists Society, I have been able to conduct direct observations on captive adults of one species of clerid, Enoclerus ichneumoneus Fabricius, and record many details on adult biology, including mating and feeding behavior. I plan to publish these observations independently of my mimicry paper.

"I thank the Coleopterists Society for assisting me with my work."
