y Possibilities Revisited
Is this the best education we can provide kids
for the combined population/expenditures?
Why are we open in winter weather andclosed in summer? Potential cost savings by
reversing this?
Instead of moving kids, move the teacher from
bldg to bldg.

y Possibilities Revisited
Supts do a great job cooperating, but that
hasnt solved the problems
We are the problem. have lived beyond ourmeans: wages, benefits, pensions far beyond
the average of our communities
Generosity of State of NY has encouraged
this.

y Possibilities Revisited
Problem is far deeper than sharing bus runs,
courses
There are windows of opportunity. Thissituation is similar to the circumstances that
led to the merger of Chautauqua and
Mayville.
If we get property tax cap, we will have no
other choice.

Go to Albany and say this is what these 4
districts want; cannot wait for legislators
Incentive aid is a temporary fix
Make tough choices; State of NY has
encouraged us not to do that

Are we committed to moving in a new
direction as 4 districts together?

do.

Cutting jobs will have a huge impact on the
county.
Have to do something; cannot expect stateto understand our situation/problems. Figure

today will be taken away from us.

this. Communicate to communities so they
understand the impact of the property taxcap. Associate faces/programs with the

y Action Steps
Get ad hoc committee: 2 board members,
supt from each district: meet for the first
time to determine who representatives willbe (e.g. reps from teachers, support staff).
Concern about committee getting too large.
Could have leadership team plus advisory
committees to keep everyone in the loop.
Work on tangible next steps: newsletter,
website, Facebook, etc.

lean on neighboring districts sometimes.
