WELCOME Rev. Beth Farabee (Please complete Connection Card and place in offering plate.)

PRELUDE “In the Bleak Midwinter” arr. Michael Ekbladh

LIGHTING OF THE ADVENT CANDLES HYMN No. 2090 vs. 3 (black hymnal)God you are our salvation and strength. We will trust in you and will not be afraid. We will rejoice in you always. Yes, we will rejoice! Amen.

THE BIDDING PRAYER/LORD’S PRAYER No. 895 (red hymnal) Rev. Kevin Johnson Beloved in Christ, as we await the great festival of Christmas let us prepare ourselves so that we may be shown its true meaning. Let us hear, in lessons from the Holy Scripture, how the prophets of Israel foretold that God would visit and redeem the waiting people. Let us rejoice, in our carols and hymns, that the good purpose of God is being mightily fulfilled. Let us celebrate the promise that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, will bring all peoples and all things into the glory of God’s eternal kingdom. The blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. But first, let us pray for the world that God so loves, for those who have not heard the good news of God, or who do not believe it; for those who walk in darkness and the shadow of death; and for the Church in this place and everywhere, that it may be freed from all evil and fear, and may in pure joy lift up the light of the love of God. These prayers and praises let us humbly offer to God, in the words that Christ himself taught us...

Dear FUMC Faith Family,

Thank you in advance for your support of this years Helping Hands Clinic Annual Holiday Donation Match Challenge! We continue to need your support as the Florida legislature is still not expanding Medicaid to cover those below the poverty level. Since this applies to 100% of our patients, we continue to be their primary source for health care.

Contributions to last year’s drive helped Helping Hands Clinic to provide for 2,524 clinic visits through our Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday night medical clinics. In addition, we had 1,674 visits to our Monday meals and clothing closet, and 1,197 visits to our Women’s Health & Empowerment Program. The women’s program continued to offer a nutritious meal, clothing, showers, hygiene products, education programs, and support groups in a safe and supportive environment. The year saw a significant increase in volunteers joining our efforts. The monetary value of the volunteers was estimat-ed at $773,921. We are extremely grateful for both the dedication of our volunteers and the financial support we have received from you.

Our volunteer donor and “Uncle Ike Family” has pledged again to match your donation given to the clinic by Dec 31st. These funds will be used by the clinic to support all aspects of program operations. Do-nations by check can be made to FUMC with Helping Hands Clinic in the memo line or through the ways to give below. Donations can also be made directly to HHC at www.hhgnv.org.

It is a blessing to celebrate all the ways Helping Hands and FUMC have been in partnership for so many years to bring healing, not only to broken bodies, but also to broken spirits. Please also feel free pass the word to anyone who’d be interested in helping to support this life-giving work!

Thankfully Yours,

Your friends at the Helping Hands Clinic
