GE V. M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education has tied up with Turismo de Portugal for

“Collaborative International Training and Education Program”. This exchange program is aimed at creating an awareness of the importance of training for the development and sustainability of tourism activity in both the countries as well as considering the mutual interest to encourage and develop the training and qualification of human resources working in the field of tourism. The objective is to increase the interaction between teachers and students and thus increase the cooperation as well as to promote the professional knowledge and cultural integration in the fields of hospitality and tourism between Portugal and India.

The program will focus on specialized training for students and mentoring for teachers. The institution will identify the faculty member/s to provide mentorship for each student group involved in this professional interchange experience. The specialized program is of six weeks duration which will involve organizing work practicum lessons, cultural field trips, and visits to companies in the tourism sector. They will facilitate student accommodation during their stay.

InternshipTwenty four weeks of industrial training in a reputed five star hotel of their choice is mandatory. Training in all four core departments’ i.e. Front office, Housekeeping, Kitchen and F&B Service is necessary. The internship program gives an opportunity to the students to enhance their knowledge and skills they have acquired during the theory and practical sessions. Students with good academics, leadership grades, good attitude and behavior are selected to intern abroad. PlacementsThe Training & Placements cell prepares them to face the Interviews to take the corporate leap. The Institute contacts many five star hotels in India and abroad and invites them for campus placements. Reputed hotel chains such as Taj, Oberoi, Marriott, Hilton and Hyatt are invited to conduct campus interviews for the Management Trainee Program offered by them. Students are also assisted in registering themselves on a video based recruitment website which is a common platform for both employers and job seekers.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE DEGREE PROGRAM

A candidate who has passed standard 10+2 or its equivalent in any discipline from a recognized board in India/ other countries is eligible to apply for 3 year B.Sc. International Hospitality Management.

Students who wish to apply for admission will have to answer the VMSIIHE written entrance test at the campus on a specified date, followed by Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). Eligible candidates are required to register themselves for the written examination by filling up the application form and submitting the same to the Admission Office of the Institute. Upon receipt of the completed application form, VMSIIHE will inform the applicants of the date and time of the test.

The written test will consist of:Abstract Reasoning | Verbal Reasoning | Reading Comprehension | General Knowledge.

Student with a valid UGAT score or JEE score card will be considered for admission and may be exempted from the written entrance test.

The Institute will offer provisional Admission offer letters to successful candidates.
