GENERAL INFORMATIONCOURSE OBJECTIVESAt the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to develop a differential diagnosis for, assess, and manage clinical issues that occur in the Emergency Department, Urgent Care Center or primary care office, including:

Implement the initial evaluation of children with chest pain and those with heart failure.

Assess and plan disposition for children with suicidal ideation.

Identify pitfalls in successfully performing minor procedures.

Describe the presentation of and treatment approach to children with diabetic ketoacidosis.

Utilize teamwork and crisis resource management principles to manage critically ill pediatric patients in an ED or office setting.

Recognize radiographic findings of C-spine injury and develop an initial approach to a child with a possible neck injury.

Recognize a variety of common and uncommon disease entities that present to the ED or office. Use pharmacologic agents effectively in the management of pain associated with pediatric procedures.
