Purpose of LeGrande Mysterium 2015

Our main goal is to introduce a new generation of minds to the real world

applications of imagination and developing new ideas.

Mission of the LeGrande Mysterium

LeGrande Mysterium is an event designed to focus on the inventions, influence and cultures that embrace the possibilities of an idea. With this in mind we are striving to work with middle school and high schools across Texas to promote the 5 core aspects of science fiction: literature, science, alien cultures, exploration and discovery, and finally communication through linguistics and music. At the Mysterium though, we would like to look past just the fans of a science fiction production into the minds of not yet created science something… So we are looking to present 100+ ideas from young and old alike. Look at fan conversions and help create a new level of communication be-tween the genres of science fiction. Without the contributions of every author, producer, costume specialist and special effects team the process of discovery of these fantastic worlds would be im-possible. Our mission is to create one of the most interactive and community building events possible. Not only do we want to include our local talent and minds, but also build a strong relationship be-tween our vendors, our volunteers and our guests. With a mission to give back while creating a suc-cessful event; we are looking to grow awareness on how others can follow in our footsteps.

Our Vision for the Event: Our team would like to create an event that thrives on the natural history of Galveston Island and its inhabitants. By partnering with city, the historical society and community leaders we believe we can turn a portion of Galveston Island into an intergalactic wormhole port of call. By basing our story and convention around the Great Flood of 1901, we think we can provide an alternate expla-nation to the flood waters and what actually happened… if it were an alternate universe that is….

We see the outside décor littered with gas lamps and benches, Victorian/Wild West style outfits,

Zeppelins’ in the air and hot air balloons parked nearby.

The lanes and marketplace are filled with species from around the universe hawking their wares and homeland goods.

The eyes of the young fascinated and inspired by all that they see.

Adventurers racing off to the portal house to travel through realities and time

Families laughing in awe and vendors selling their goods in the market.

Re-enactors of 1902 City Leaders and major community players supervising.

League of mad scientists scampering about creating havoc and special investigators thwarting them at every turn.

This event is more than an expo with a theme; it is a production of how to create your own world. We are looking for the quality and dedication to make it a completely immersive event for the young and old to enjoy the aspects of walking into a living science fiction event.

Whiskey with Hemmingway

Join our Celebrity guests at a secluded setting for cocktails and conversation. This special little extra is where we change the game on meeting celebrity guests. For all our fans who have dreamed of having a drink with their favorite LIVING celebrity, this event is for you!!

Space Pirates on the Boulevard

Because we believe that community is key, we will be hosting an open concert at the historical downtown square in Galveston. With private party attendance at nearby restaurants and walking distance to the Elyssa for photos and tours, you can't miss out on the fun shopping on the Island.

Merkel’s Market Place

We will be hosting up to 150 vendors and crafters with live demonstrations, Q&A sessions, and a couple of secrets revealed!! Because shopping is so much fun, we have created our own Intergalactic Space Port.

Because everyone has some great ideas, these inventions were designed to change the future of humanity. Take a step into the world of science and science fiction. Talk to the inventors and learn about the science that brought these inventions to life.

Invention Imaginarium

Many cultures promote advanced learning and tactical skills. In the Imaginarium learn how some of the youngest minds in the galaxy are planning to change their worlds. By investing in their inventions you are investing in REAL WORLD organiza-tions that promote science, literature and creativity across the United States.

Work shops, workshops, worke shoppes....

We will have 15 different workshops running over the weekend from storytelling to designing video games. Remember to sign up for your workshop pass when you pur-chase your VIP passes. Workshops will have reserved seating and open seating the day of the event. Please keep in mind that space is limited, so we encourage you to get your passes early.

In the great multiverse, a collection of individual scientists from their respective realities stumbled across the ability to communicate with other realities. In each world the scientist was in an area that coincided with the physical location of our own world's Galveston, Texas. Using their respective forms of communication (radio waves, scrying pools, internet, etc.), they managed to contact one another across time, space, and dimensional barriers.

This meeting of scientific minds led to a continuous series of discussions and sharing of knowledge about each other's world. Shortly afterward a wormhole in space-time was discovered in the area by these scientists that opened to a neutral dimension. They could finally meet face to face and interact with each other! After a year of meetings, and several discussions about the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle (you inevitably change what you study), the scientists agreed to widen the wormhole and invite people of all times and realities to participate in a trans dimensional science fair of epic proportions!

But how could they reach the masses of the various and numerous realms to invite them? And where would they hold it? During one of the meetings to discuss this expo, a wanderer stumbled into their midst. He was not a scientist per se, but a traveler through-out all space, time, and dimensional realms who did not rely on wormholes or quantum mechanics to travel across the multiverse.

This truly trans-dimensional being was friendly and curious and agreed to act as a messenger to spread the word of the upcoming scientific gathering throughout the multiverse. He also sug-gested a suitable place to hold the expo where people would be very excit-ed to participate and experience what the multiverse had to offer. It is our very own Galveston, Texas!

General Guide Lines:

1. All vendors must be dressed in some sort of Intergalactic or historical

apparel.

2. All clothing must be PG rated with no full face masks.

3. Booth must be manned at all times regardless of level of crowd traffic.

4. Any booth that closes down before end of day will be removed from show.

5. We will not rush crowd out of building, so plan on a flexible closing time

Friday and Saturday.

6. Any complaints, concerns, or compliments must be given directly to Vendor

Coordinator.

7. Vendor is responsible for damages to their booth space and hotel room.

8. All staff must be able to present a VALID picture ID at time of arrival to be

allowed into event. Passes will be distributed onsite.

9. ALL patrons must be treated with respect and kindness regardless of their

apparel, affiliations, or general attitude.

This is a family show, please act, speak and behave

accordingly.
