TREE CONTESTIn conjunction with Bishan East Family Fun Day in Harmony 2009

(A) Eligibility

1. The contest is open to all residents of Bishan East Division.2. Members of the organising committee are not eligible to participate.

(B) How to participate

1. Create your family tree onlineParticipants can create their family trees using the Singapore Family Tree website at http://www.sft.com.sg. Participants must publish their family tree and submit the website address to Elis_WOON@pa.gov.sg with full contact details by 10 June 2009.

About Singapore Family Tree websiteThe Singapore Family Tree (SFT) website is a FREE service by National Heritage Board, where you can use to safekeep your family memories and share it across generations. Start by building your family tree and invite your family members through the system. You can upload and share photos, create your family webpage, and even print out your family tree.

2. Create your family tree on A3 size paperSubmit your entry to Bishan Community Club with the contest entry form by 10 June 2009.

(C) Entry Requirement

1. The family tree must contain at least 1 generation;

2. For each member in the family tree, the member’s profile page must contain the member’s name and gender. Additional details such as birth date and a photo will be an advantage.

(D) Rules & Regulations1. Only one entry per participant will be considered.2. Deadline for submission of entry is 10 June 2009 at 5.00pm3. The winners will be notified to attend the prize presentation ceremony on 14 June 2009.4. The organizing committee’s decision is final. No further correspondence will be entertained.5. The winners are to produce their NRIC/Birth Cert/Passport for verification purpose.6. Prizes are not exchangeable for cash or other kind.7. Step-by-step instructions to participate in the contest via Singapore Family Tree website.

Step 1: Subscribe to the Singapore Family Tree

a) Enter the Singapore Family Tree (SFT) address http://www.sft.com.sg on the address bar. The SFT home page will be displayed.

b) Click on “Sign Up”. The “Terms and Conditions” will be displayed as shown below.

c) Click on “I Agree”. The Application screen will be displayed as shown below.

d) Fill in your particulars accurately.

e) Enter the code that shown on the screen and click the Submit button. Example:

Step 2: Create your family tree

a) Click on “Login”. A login screen will be displayed to prompt you to enter your User ID (must be your current email address) and password. Click “Submit”.

b) After you have login, the Home page screen will be displayed.

c) Click on the “Build Family Tree” link on the left menu. The Build Family Tree screen will be displayed on the right side of the window as shown below.

d) Next, click on your own name link. A Summary screen will be shown as below.

e) On this screen, you can do one of the following:1) Add or Delete Parent2) Add or Delete Spouse3) Add or Delete Child 4) Edit your own profile.

f) Click on “Edit Profile” and you will be able to enter your name, date of birth, gender.

g) Click on the “Photo” tab to upload your photo as shown below.

h) Click “Browse” to browse and select your digital photo from your computer.

i) Click “Upload” to upload your photo.

j) To create the profile for your father and mother, click on the Father’s Name link and repeat step 5 to 9.

Step 3: Publish my family tree

1. To publish your family tree, click on the Family Gallery link and then click on the Website link on the left menu as shown below.

2. Type in the Folder Name, eg “My Family Tree”, in the Folder Name.

3. The default Web Header Name is “Welcome to My Family Tree”. You may wish to amend.

4. Click on “Publish” to publish your family tree. A screen will be shown below if your family tree is published successfully.

5. Copy the website address and email it to Elis_WOON@pa.gov.sg with your full name, email address and contact numbers to participate in the Bishan East Family Tree Contest.
