Saturday 14th October at 1.00pm JOHAN DE COCK, PIANO Johan displays great versatility as a contemporary musician, embracing a broad range of musical styles in- cluding Classical, Jazz and Tango. Born in Nambia in 1975, and originally trained at the Conservatoire of Music in Stellenbosch (South Afri- ca), Johan moved to the UK in 2000. He has given solo performances in London, Brighton, Hastings, East- bourne, Chichester and Sal- combe, and currently lives in Saltdean, Brighton, where he teaches, composes, records, and organises a variety of concerts and musical events. Saturday 4th November at 1.00pm FIONA HOSFORD, HARP Fiona's repertoire ranges from Classical music, the Beatles, through to Light Jazz and popu- lar Modern Classics. Whether it's Pachelbel, Puccini or Elton John, Andrew Lloyd-Webber, The A-Team or Star Trek, Fio- na will delight you with her magnetic personality and harp playing. Saturday 18th November at 1.00pm BUXTED SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CHARITY CONCERT FOR ST. CECILIAS DAY IN AID OF CHRISTIAN AID 2017 will be the tenth year of the Lunchtime Concert series at St Leonards Church. My aim was to provide a free hour long Saturday Concert that residents and visitors alike might enjoy. Nine years and 96 Concerts later I think its fair to say they have proved suc- cessful, with audience numbers ranging from sixty to one hundred and twenty each month. The Concerts remain free and self supported by the donations given at the end of each concert by our gen- erous audience, to whom we are deeply grateful. We look forward to welcoming you to another year of concerts in our 900 year old Church to enjoy listen- ing to some wonderful music given by great musicians in a beautiful setting. ELLIE BLACKSHAW, VIOLIN/VIOLA JULIAN BROUGHTON, PIANO

After a formal musical training at the Royal Col-lege of Music in the 80s, Ellie has consistently been in demand as cham-ber musician playing a wide variety of repertoire, old to contemporary, as violinist and violist in and around Brighton and Lon-don. Julian Broughton is a com-poser and pianist. His com-positions include Sympho-ny in E, and a Sonata for Violin and Piano (premiered in 2015 by Ellie Blackshaw and Rachel Fryer). As a pianist, Julian works regularly with flautist Julie Groves and soprano Sophie Pullen. The Buxted Symphony Orchestra appointed him as their conductor in 2013.

ROSEMARY KEMP, PIANO A former scholarship pupil and prize winner at the Royal College of Music London, she has per-formed and taught piano, harpsichord and electron-

ic keyboard professionally.

JULIA KEMP, SOPRANO Julia was a Music student and Choral Scholar at Trinity Col-lege, Cambridge where she grad-uated with a first in music. Previ-ously she sang in

the National Youth Choir of Wales and in a number of regional ensem-bles.

CLASSICAL FOLK Sylvia Akagi,voice&flute Andrew Wickens,violin Peter Golden, guitar

Andrew studied violin at St Cecelia's academy in Rome and went on to play with the Philharmonia Orchestra from which he has re-cently retired. His violin tech-nique is dazzling yet never over-shadows Sylvia's voice "of excep-tional purity and sweetness". Pe-ter's arrangements, compositions and guitar accompaniments un-derscore Classical Folk's unique identity.

Saturday 27th May at 1.00pm PRACTICALL MUSICKE

They have taken part in these lunchtime concerts on a number of occasions. The group always aims to in-clude music which has im-mediate appeal, as well as that which is more cere-bral. Unfamiliar repertoire is especially fa-voured. Instruments played can include viols, violin, recorder, organ/harpsichord and voice.

POLYPHONICA RECORDER TRIO

Formed in 2006. The trio is committed to his-torically informed performance as well as ad-vancing the recorder as a modern instrument though collaboration with composers. Current commissions include works by Steve Mar-shall, UK, Robert All-worth, Australia, Ste-phen Yates, Australia, and Jean-Christophe Rosaz, France.

NICK HOUGHTON, ORGAN

Nick Houghton is organist at St Michael’s in Lewes. As well as giving organ recitals, he is often heard playing continuo on his own 17th century style chamber organ or his harpsichord, or accompanying choral concerts in the South East of England. He is current-ly Music Director of the Lewes Singers, the Lewes Chamber Choir and the East Sussex Community Choir and was un-til recently Head of the East Sussex Academy of Music in Lewes. Nick is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists.

ALEXANDRA KIDGELL SOPRANO

Has continued to enjoy a busy and varied performing career, both as a soloist and consort singer. Recent highlights have included Bach Mass in B minor at the Queen Elizabeth Hall with the Feinstein Ensemble, as part of the Southbank Centre’s Bach Weekend. In July and August last she appeared on stage at the Globe’s Sam Wanamaker Playhouse as part of the small cast of Thomas Tallis, a new play with music, which was widely acclaimed. There have also been numerous appearances with The Sixteen across the UK and Europe throughout.

MARK WARDELL, ORGAN

A Fellow of the Royal College of Organists he was Assistant Organist at Chichester Cathedral until 2009, serving for five years as Director of Music at the Cathedral Choir's School. His work in

Chichester involved him in numerous live BBC broadcasts, recordings and the Southern Cathe-drals choirs Festival.

NIALL O’RIORDAN, FLUTE

ANNE MARSHALL, PIANO

Niall and Anne have been performing internation-ally as a duo for over 3 years. They met at the Sir James Galway Flute Convention where Niall won the coveted Rising Star 2015 prize and where Anne is an official accompanist for Sir James and the participants. They have ap-peared in concert together all over the world, including the UK, the Netherlands, Canada and South Africa. Their Programme brings together treasures of the flute rep-ertoire, with not often heard piec-es.
