What is a Location Manager? The role that the location manager has in a production company is to find

the ideal locations for each part of the film that they are creating. This is a very important job as the locations for a film could mean that the film fails or successes. This means that there is a lot of presser on the location manager to find the right places to shoot.

The location manager will go out looking for the locations and then write an report for the producer and director to look at, as well as pictures and then the director and producer would say yes or no. It is not as easy as going out looking for a location and saying “we will film there”, because the location manager needs to take in account the cost of using the place to film, the vehicle access, parking, noise reduction and if there is anybody living near by, which if there is they would have a say in if they can or not.

The location manager also has to think about the available power sources and facilities that are on location because of all the equipment that is used.

What is a Casting Director? Cast director’s job is to find actors for each of the roles in the film. The cast

director would work close with the director and producer to find the right people for the job. Each of the roles that need to be filmed in the film would have a report on what they are like in the film and then the casting director would have to search and find the right actors for the job.

The casting director would have to think about the experience of the actors that he is looking at and the ability of the actor. The higher the reputation and the higher the ability of the actor, the actors fees would go higher. This means that the casting director would have to take that in account when getting the right people for the job. The director and producer would set him or her a budget for the actors fees.
